Is that a connector on the LIM itself?
No, those are all clearly documented in the wiki. Im talking about the Kuster locking actuator on the i3 CCS port itself

Got ahold of one today and can confirm this connector fits the i3 CCS lock actuator out of the box. No trimming or mods necessary.

Found my (latest) problem. Because I'm an idiot who can't tell his left shift from his right turns out when I thought I was asking for 125A I was asking for 126A. Not a problem as we respect the current and power limit flags until we hit a station who implements the standard differently and shuts down if you even think about asking for more than the posted limit! Great to see in the CCS game that even the same make and model of station implement the standard in different ways. Keeps me interested if nothing else I suppose. Now to find out what I'm doing that annoys ABB stations....

Hey, folks.
I believe CCS1 and CCS2 just differ in the charging plug. Also saw somebody confirming it in this thread too.
But the wiki (https://openinverter.org/wiki/BMW_I3_Fa ... LIM_Module) says that the US version LIM module has a jumper between 2B-2 and 2B-6 connections.
My LIM module have just arrived from IRELAND, so it got me wondering....
Anybody had success with the CCS1 here yet?

Could this be to do with latching behaviour, as the CCS1 has a manual latch release button?

Back on the road again. Seems my favorite ccs stations in the whole world have had a sexy software update. The good : Nice display of charge power, The bad : station reported voltage is now wayyy over that recorded in the car. The ugly : yep you guessed it! fake "over voltage" shutdowns.

In other news got me a KIA CCS 2 socket to play with. Spent a half day trying to understand why it wouldn't work with my Leaf Gen 3 pdm. Guess what? It has a 2.68k resistor between PP and ground and a 7.06k resistor between CP and ground. Helpfully they even have a label on the back with these values listed. Now, somebody please tell me where this is specified in the CCS standard?

PP to ground (R5) 2.7K looks correct but the CP to ground resistor is weird.
Maybe they use it to detect the inlet and have a slightly higher resistors (R3) in the KIA charge controller.
To indicate state B (EV connected) CP should be connected to ground with 2.74K. If they have 7.06K in the inlet they may have ~4.5K in the controller.
But If the resistor has no diode (D1) in series the negative side of the PWM signal would be slightly pulled down too. (~ -10.5V)

Would it be possible to check this on the car? If it's as simple as "walk out to the driveway and poke the J1772 port with a multimeter" I'd be happy to help.

That's exactly whats needed. A DC voltage measurement between the ground pin and PP will do the trick.

There's an open between PP and gnd. 637ohm between CP and gnd.

I'm wondering if the proper CP - GND resistance helps to keep ABB stations happy?

Proper resistance is critical for both control pilot (cp) and proximity pilot (pp/prox)

Right, resistance testing update.

2k7 between pp and pe : No change to ac or dc charge behavior. ABB stations still say "charging will begin once power is available" and then time out. All other dc stations work as before. Only negative is the cp door flag from the lim stays in error. Presumably because it sees the resistance as a plug inserted.

635R between cp and pe : No charge of any type possible.

Sorry folks, there's been a mistake.
1. I mentally swapped the pin out of the plug vs. socket.
2. Working on another project, I discovered that my meter isn't functioning well.

I bought a new meter and tested it.

CP to gnd - open. PP to gnd ~2k7 (2696 ohms to be exact). This seems to correspond to what the wiki shared here earlier is showing.

This is a nice document showing the differences between charging protocols...
Page 35 shows a J1772 (Type 1 plug) PP circuit used in the US on top and a IEC 61851 (type 2 plug) circuit used in Europe on the bottom.

This would mean there is no PP - PE resistor in the type 2 charging port.

Phoenix Contact specifies for Type1 inlets 2k7 and for Type2 4k7 between PP and GND, regardless of whether it is AC/DC or just AC.

I just measured my VW ID3 CCS port: 4k7 between PP and GND.
With no car connected (the part with some loom) in my hands.
