man this hydraulic crimper off of AMAZON sucks, it leaves these sharp edges that I have to spend more time filing off than crimping, do you guys and gals have a good one you can recommend please

so I am trying to reuse as much of the OEM stuff as possible for a couple reasons, one I bought it, two it's quality stuff, and when it comes to relays, there are dozens of different types and sizes and colors, so after a very lengthy and deliberate process, I decided to use the first two types I found, the big one I call the Power Relay and the small one I call the Logic Relay

the Power Relays can obviously handle more current, but in my mind they do work, for example they control a fan, or a pump, or a motor of some sorts, where as the Logic Relays just pretty much turn things off and on, they usually don't need any thicker wires on the load/high side they are just a switch too far for you to reach with your hand sort of speak

Only with this type of lugs.
You posted in an earlier post the lugs you got, and I bought the same ones.
I used the same crimper before and it never happen.

Progress Not Perfection

Alligator clips be gone, she's all hard wired now. Introducing the line up from left to right [on the fuse block]

1. VCU - working
2. Safety Box - working
3. Neutral Safety Switch- working
4. Water Pump - unplumed at the moment
5. Electric Power Steering, EPAS - working
6. Inverter - working (now turned on automagically by the VCU using that little relay)
7. DC-DC Converter - currently sitting on the work bench
8. Arduino UNO for PWM for the water pump - currently sitting on my desk waiting on a case
9. Idiot Light - working

* Oil Pump is fused and relayed in the motor compartment not in the cockpit

how many friggen automotive fuse sizes could there be?


The ATO/ATC are the dime a dozen car fuses that you can still pull out with your fingers, as opposed to the MINI which you need them never to be found pinchers, or the MAXI you need a tire iron to pry out with.

In my application I will be using all three... because I can! lol Seriously though I like the standard size ones as mentioned above the ATO/ATCs but I harvested the MINI style fuse blocks from the OEM wire harnesses I bought so I am Rockin' those for the majority of stuffs. The bigger stuffs (oil pumpulator, and the EPAS will be protected with some MAXIs)

Radar here would like to know if any of you super resource ninjas would be willing to help The Greg source these types of TOYOTA/Lexus OEM ATM aka mini fuse terminals, please and thank you

Progress Report

Today was all about the Tesla Model S water pump, first I made a bracket to lower it, then I implemented some stolen PWM code to make sure she knows it's a Marathon not a sprint.

I'm considering getting a narrower radiator, and plumbing on the inside of the frame rail

A MORAL DILEMMA: Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary but I already invited a bunch of boys to come over and help with the final assembly, and hopefully our first drive!!! So the obvious question is do I feed 'em tacos or pizza ?

Man I was over at 1:00 AM Auto last night still wrenchin' and wrenchin' cause it did not cool down for us over here in the Capital city till way late, I recall looking at my phone and uttering 90°F it's 9:00 PM !!!

and I got everything done, well as far as hardware goes, but the funny thing is it all looks the same, well except there's a live battery pack under it all now

mounted the second seat, where my mobile soldering station used to be (but I won't miss it), and if the truck had wings (fenders) I could mount the battery where it needs to be and we would be able to attempt a maiden voyage, but for that I need another set of hands

also learned after spinning the oil pump she took another quart, for a total of a smidgeon over 4 quarts, probably since I am running it through an oil cooler on the account of the hotness where I live

Same thing here in Georgia. It is painful to do anything outside. as soon as you get out you are wet. too much humidity. I think 10 times before getting out and working on the car.

oh wow, I could not survive in that humidity, give me dry heat and earthquakes over humidity and hurricanes any day, last I checked there ain't no earthquake season, lol

Well, with two kids in college I am a little short, like $2.5k short, but it may be the solution for some of you all, plus they offer units as small as the 12K for $1,500 bucks, but I don't know what any of that 12K, 18K, or 24K British Thermal Units even means, nor do I want to learn how to speak British

after laying low yesterday all day on the account of our 23rd wedding anniversary, today is the Big Day, the fenders go on today and we hope to drive her today !
