Not technically an ev part but I’ve discovered a useful size radiator for a conversion that can be bought new for as little as £35 (40euro)
Comes from a fiat cinquecento
I can confirm that this part is really appropriate for installation in an EV. I just got one for Mazda for cooling system.

Radiator will come packed in a box. There are two 32mm main outlets for coolant and a small 8mm outlet for deairing. Additionaly there is another hole in this radiator. Thread is M22x1.5. It is located between the main outlets and its purpose is to house thermostat. This needs to be plugged for radiator to be functional. I had another radiator which was rotten and i simply removed thermostat from that one.
Now to help with radiator mounting i made a simple 40mm channel from sheet aluminum so radiator sits inside it and to define the third mounting point is a large circular plastic fitting on the right side which i used to anchor radiator to the chassis.
Additionaly i used a simple sheet metal strip and fold it to effect a support for radiator from the top. You need to wrap the metal so it wont damage radiator fins under vibration.
For active cooling while charging (immovable car) i fitted a 80W 250mm fan i bought from aliexpress.
I tested by applying coolant in the tubes and ran the pump. System is tight and running.

I use 2 of them, the upper one for the motor and charger, the lower one just for the battery. I attached it to the three holes where the fan was originally attached.

Depending on where you buy that fiat radiator some come with a blanking plug in that m22 hole which is nice

I know this is not a part for a car, but this solar inverter is enough interest for us. I have it about 3 years and very happy. It is an all in one, solar inverter for the house, but also a charger for our car. Its uniqueness is that it supports any battery up to 550v, so you can charge your battery up to 66A or 6Kw and you can choose whether it is charged only with energy from panels or also with energy from the network. For example, in a 400V lithium battery, it would be charged at 15A maximum.
Batteryhookup is having their Black Friday/Christmas sale again.
500A, 900vdc contactors with built in economizers, from EV battery modules, are only $12.50. I'm probably going to buy a bunch just for accessories. Just dirt cheap:
For anyone wanting budget builds, especially state-side, there's some good value there.

Thanks for the detailed guide! It's great that you're sharing your knowledge about integrating components from gas cars into EV builds. Using the hydraulic assist pump from Opel cars sounds like a clever solution for providing power steering in an EV. Your explanation about how the pump operates, including the wiring connections, is clear and straightforward.
Connecting the thick red wire to a live 12V source with an 80A fuse and grounding the brown wire to the chassis are crucial steps. It's also helpful that you mentioned avoiding running the pump dry, as that could damage the system. The details about using a 12V relay to manage the various support elements and the different wiring scenarios to control the pump's behavior are especially useful. This guide will definitely help others working on similar EV projects. Thanks for sharing, and keep up the great work!

Folks.
Anybody knows a good latching switch with a momentary button combo, preferably 19mm round? Doesn't need to be lockable.
Trying to combine ignition switch and start button into one unit. The ignition switch needs to stay on whilst pressing the start button.

Currently I can get it to draw HV power, however without a battery I am a bit stuck. Luckily Damien also obtained one so we can make progress.

Are the Tesla/Nissan/Ford coolant pumps know for failure?
One of mine started leaking from the seals. The other one (identical) is ok. Haven't driven my conversion all that much yet. Seems to be happening overnight when the temps drop from 25..30C during the day to 10..15C at night.
From Lars' homepage (https://www.evcreate.com/using-tesla-th ... 20on%20the), my pump orientation is ok.

The early Tesla pumps, as used on the RAV4 EV, have a regular failure pattern. They don't leak, but they do stop pumping (either not running, or running too slowly, IDK). I've read about several failures of the early Tesla pumps, but none were for leakage. Failures are common, though not particularly frequent. The RAV4 EV has four coolant pumps, due to one being dedicated to a cabin heater loop with its own type of coolant.

I'm running two from a 2011 Leaf and no issues. Do you control the speed or are they full on all the time?
Did they come from a crash damaged car? Maybe a hair line crack.

I found this part in connection with the charging management of my 12V battery. It measures current, voltage and other values and outputs them via LIN. Certainly also suitable for any consumers on the 12V side. You can get it individually from €20.- or as a kit with display for €130.- on ebay.

The Hella Sensors, I have a bunch of them. You need to make sure you get the ones meant for caravans/motorhomes as that matches the LIN frames.
