Back to 16850 cells: here's a really handy configurator website for custom packs based on individual cells.

If I do go the 16850 route, I can fit 10kWh+ in easy. 8-)

Nice. Interesting to know that they clear the narrow bit near the headstock - that was looking very tight on my measurements!

They won't clear the engine subframe.

Oh wow, they fit very well between the chassis bars.

@clanger9 how are things going on the project, any progress? Not many bikes here, so I'm kind of curious...

It's sort-of on hold at the moment until I can get more workshop space. I managed to get 12.5kWh / 60kg in the frame with enough space for the rest of the bits (boy is it tight!). Paul Compton is totally right about the lack of space in these things.
These are both 60kg.jpg

I have been a bit distracted by the Ultraviolette F77, which is basically the exact bike I am trying to build, except it lacks onboard AC charging. So close!!

Maybe I will wait until someone crashes one so I can grab the running gear... ;)

Cool, nice packaging, never thought of stacking at an angle - probably because the hub motor makes that bit easier.
Have you selected a motor yet? On Damien's discord Jamie (@bigpie) posted a picture of the Outlander _front_ motor (which might be small enough) to stay in the OI ecosystem.
Unfortunately there are no decent pictures on Google that I could find, let alone dimensions, but the Wiki has some details: https://openinverter.org/wiki/Mitsubish ... _Transaxle

I was planning to use this one and retain the existing chain drive, but with 27KV windings to avoid an additional reduction gear:
https://alienpowersystem.com/shop/brush ... tercooled/

However, I don't know for certain if that idea will work. If not, I'll need a reduction gear and cross-shaft...

A hub motor would make life a lot easier, but lightweight 20kW+ hub motors don't exist (yet)
