also, almost 3 years ago I was running your solution in my truck against the Tesla Model S pump, again thank you very much for sharing your work

Re: Bunky the eBug: A 30 Day EV Conversion
one of the things I don't like about this Ding Dong charger is that it's cooling ports are closer to 3/4" so slightly larger than all the other components (inverter, radiator, water pump) which have 5/9" ports, so I needed to order some reducers and since space was tight they had to be elbow

and so the elbows had to be shortened, thank goodness for the extra rows of barbs

I was dreading wiring up this Ding Dong Charger/DC-DC Converter but here it goes
first up was this SINGLE WIRE low voltage regular 12 volt car battery charger cable, ie alternator cable
and folks we just don't have that kinda room

I will post excruciating detail of me having my way with this Ding Dong charger here I just bought a Dilong aftermarket charger - Now What? so that we can keep this thread focused on the bigger picture and our mission (driving to Costco for a slice of pizza) in case I haven't mentioned it already

You do realise that every Nissan Leaf in the scrap yard has that connector. Also if you go for the 2011 model the cable goes all the way to the boot (trunk for those across the pond)Gregski wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 3:43 am when searching for a charging receptacle I was surprised to find one at Walmart, so I had to order it

Re: Bunky the eBug: A 30 Day EV Conversion
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I did want to point out some concern with the coolant pump. It does look a little different from the Prius ones that have been the bane of my existence, but similar enough that I want to flag it - I've had nothing but problems with Toyota pumps, especially but not limited to junkyard ones. They work great at first, and then they die. Best case, they simply die. Worst case, they try to set the car on fire.
I've switched over to some Bosche ones found on the front of the engine of the VW CC (and I assume other VW/Audi products) which, while a bit of a pain to mount, have proven much less likely to combust.

If at first you don't succeed, buy a bigger hammer.
