Does the OEM inverter have one I can copy? I can do a photomery a copy and convert it to an STL no problem I just need a starting point?...

I haven't made progress yet. 3D scanning spray arrived but I didn't realize the desoldering efforts required here to get it apart. 2 pieces here:
The shipping cover I drew up is a bit deeper than the current sensor toroid housing to protect the sensor / ic during shipping. I realized you may try to use them to set the sensor heights, they would end up too deep if you did.
How many watts is your desoldering gun? I just found your video on desoldering the assembly. I need to get a desoldering gun first. The high power iron I thought I had is missing.
I tried finding the OI discord server but looks like that may no longer be used.

My desolder station is a el cheapo special which is why I use it with the soldering iron , flux and adding some leaded solder.

I have the same desoldering gun. I find that you need to keep it meticulously clean to ensure it generates sufficient vacuum. That done it had no problems removing my Tesla board.

That's the FDU gate driver changes ready. With R45 on the PCB set to 3K3 it will now report hwver as TeslaM3RDU. With R45 set to 5K6 it now reports hwver as TeslaM3FDU. The gate driver initialisation for the FDU now matches that reconstructed from the FDU SPI traces. The operation of RDU boards are unchanged.

Hi, new on here but hoping you guys can clear up whether it is possible to get a Tesla model 3 rdu to run in reverse at full speed. I am hoping to install this motor in a conversion but can only really fit it backwards.
Has anyone achieved this or is there a possibility of flip the unit upside down.
I contacted EV controls and they thought that someone had achieved it by swapping phases and the encoder.

The whole point of this operation is to take full control of the motor without any of Teslas limitations.

Latest firmware installed in the front inverter, Gate drive resistors and steering diodes changed, variant detect resistor changed and we are looking good. No faults.

Desoldering unit arrived but has no vacuum response. I should be able to get a replacement tomorrow at some point, but may push this out of the time I had to do this (weekend). No worries really appreciate the help.
So my "old" FDU and inverter are now gone to a friend in the UK for his project. I'll be picking up the newer variant at EVBreakers next week so we can get the gate spi and oil pump lin out of it.

This desoldering iron is one of my new favorite tools. 5 seconds of moving in little circles of screechy noises then vacuum and it works better than expected.
It did plug up 4x doing this but was pretty easy to clean out.
Damien, you're looking for something a bit different for the temp sensors, right? More like an led standoff? Not sure all the boards have mini PC board temp sensors but this is what's in r1ckyb0nd's 980 inverter,
I also wrapped some solder around the capacitor to keep it discharged. Probably unnecessary but id rather not take chances. I got the toroid housing off but popped the heads off the factory current sensors, they are very potted in this inverter and popped with minimal pressure, I think this will be a struggle area - to dig out vs desolder, try to align and try to reuse. I think finding the toroids is the next issue. I'll draw the housing up as is stock then do a version to work with replacement toroids. The oe housing is not trapped in place with the screws, I'll look at flipping that in the reworked version.

Only temp senors (supplied) and 30 way header (harvest from OEM board) will require to be soldered.

Seems like now is the time to go through the install documentation and simplify it by removing the beta specific steps. Any objections to me just getting on and doing that? I don't think there's anyone with a beta board out there that hasn't finished their install.
With the benefit of hindsight it would have been better to have put together a formal pre-release of the firmware. Relying on GitHub CI builds is fine for now but they die off after 90 days. I think that a peg in the ground now would be good. Damien: Can you share your current parameter set so I can include this in the release?
