Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
Help needed please.
I have installed the OI board to a Leaf Gen 2 Oi board.
Inverter will not go into manual start
I just want go ahead and setup the syncoff for the motor.
I have done some research have set udcsw=0 and potmin=500
All I have connected to the OI board is 12v power to the board , no other wiring, hoping to connect to ZM later on once inverter is setup
Status is saying "brakeCheck" will this have any effect, I don't really want to add any extra wires to the OI board, want to wire Zombie eventually .
Why is battery udc showing 7.21v I don't have anything connected to the HV side
here are some pics.
Anyone help?

It does the same checks as pushing the physical start button. Disable cruise control to get past "BrakeCheck". status must me WaitStart

Re: Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
...ok disabled cruisecontrol..
inverter is in waitstart.
I have added 60v to HV... i am adding value to the syncoff setting, I get the PWM hum but no movement on the motor.
have tried different setting and even went upto 25amps on the manuid, still no motor movement
only errors i see is CANTIMEOUT
when I go to the plot setting SELDIR is in FORWARD, and ROTDIR Is in NETURAL is this correct
Can anyone point me in the right direction.

What's the offset set to right now? I wonder if it's possible you are already pretty close. Have you tried changing it? And is the motor physically connected to anything?

Re: Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
I have gone through the whole range in increments of 5000, the PWM hum does vary at certain points.
The motor is fitted to the cars original gearbox, didn't think the resistance was that big, it does turn freely.
Does ROTDIR In NETURAL make any difference ?
Think I will try and get the battery voltage to 96v and try again, only using small 12v 7ah batteries plus they are old so may not have the oomph in them

Re: Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
Leaf motor is always around syncofs=0
With manualid it won't turn, that is only needed if syncofs is unknown. With positive manualiq it should start spinning, maybe around 10A

Re: Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
ok thanks, I'm using the leaf drop-in board, I though the syncoff had to be found again. as the original board has been removed.
I was going by the FOC tuning video,
where the manualid is being used to add current to find the syncoff value
going to add more voltage to the HV as try again.
Thanks

Re: Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
update....I have now 90v on the HV side.
no difference to results still no movement.
Have tried adding current to manualiq no difference, am getting the PWM hum in manual start mode.
Any ideas ?

Re: Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
input voltage wont make much of a difference as long as it can deliver the amperage requested. And yeah the syncofs does have to be tuned to each individual motor due to slight variations - this is even done on the oem Leaf where the offset value was found at the factory and stamped on the motor. Changing the inverter requires programming the new one to the motor. But yeah they are generally very close to zero so if you are far from that, something is wrong. I know I went higher with my current but I was also using my 96s battery for it so I know it could supply quite a bit. As I got closer to the ideal setting, the required current went up and up, just like in that video. Was a bit scary though, had one foot on the brake pedal and one hand on the stop button...

Re: Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
Thanks, have followed all the steps, I know the original board needs more than 180v min to operate, and the drop in board can operate from 60v
I removed the HV and checked with plot, if the resolver is checking the angle position which it is, so no fault there. Gearbox out has minimum resistance and turn easily by hand
I went back and set the syncoff=0 tried upto 50a on manualid and again on manualiq. the motor gives a small kick and thats all, no spinny
I dont know what else to try, is the drop in board or inverter faulty ? I was hoping to make some progress over the xmas break

Re: Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
Are you using the original wiring harness or did you have to make it yourself? Asking in case there's a chance of a pin mixup (happened to me). And depending on the age of the board did you have to adjust the PINSWAP setting at all?

Re: Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
Have not done any settings for the PINSWAP
I did extend the resolver plug with shielded twin cable, I did use this loom on previous leaf drop in board many years ago before Zombie was born, maybe its got damaged somehow. maybe I will test the continuity pin to pin on the resolver plug.
I have bought a replacement loom, I will try that and see what happens.
Thanks for the suggestions
Re: Leaf OI drop in board- wont go in manual start
Okay, depending on the hardware revision you may need to do that. There's a thread about it on here somewhere. I had to do pinswap = 6 on my revision.

The one with Mini mainboard needs the extra resolver pinswap
