Model 3 Charging. Getting started.

Post by tg1929 »

Hi All, apologies for what to most will seem like a simple question.
I have a 2019 Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range wreck that I have harvested a motor from. I want to experiment with charging the battery pack purely at home from my a 3 Phase outlet. It is an Australian delivered 3 Phase model.
My charge door is damaged and the screen reports "unable to charge, requires service" or something similar.
I do not have any of the factory charging cables or adapters, they were not supplied with the vehicle.
I have searched through the forum, read numerous posts and watched a number of Damian's videos. Before I purchase I would like to confirm that the EVBMW Model 3 PCS controller is what I require to allow me to physically wire my model 3 charger input to a 3 phase plug and charge the battery. I am a bit confused as to whether I also need a BMS controller.
Thanks in advance.

You might look at the Ingenext Model 3 battery controller.

Thanks Dlud, I had a look at the description video. I will do some more research.
If I’m looking at battery charging only the Ingenext solution is significantly more expensive than the EVbmw controller, but it may offer more functionality. Im not familiar enough with the available options hence starting this post.
Is anyone familiar with both systems? Is the Ingenext charge controller a better option?

The ingenx is design to run a un modified model 3 battery. Not really a pcs controller.

The evbmw controller just runs the pcs. So if you buy a pcs off eBay you can use it in a conversion, for example.

They are very are intended for very different setups
