In comparing the Nissan Leaf contactor box to the BMW hybrid sBox I can't help but notice the absence of a current shunt, am I correct in assuming the Leaf box does not hold such apparatus or is it buried deep inside it's bowels somewhere? If indeed there is no current shunt in that box, how and where is the current measured? My experience with the Leaf box is limited to staring at pics of one on eBay listings, so please be gentle.

Actually the one you caught on camera has one in the upper left corner
Laters gens have it on the service disconnect.
They are all hall effect, not shunts

Is it possible with openinverter software use this Leaf hall effect sensor as main current measuring device instead of Isabellenütten?

If you use the full Leaf battery then the ZV can get battery voltage, current and power from the Leaf BMS.

I have an Hall effect sensor from 2016 Nissan Leaf 30kWh battery. It was connected directly to Service disconnect socket. Difference between the older one from the first Gregskis picture here is that older hall sensor has only 3 pins. 30kWh battery one has 4 pins.
Sensor has a code:
294G0 3NF0A
1501160049
inside looks almost like chinese ebike throttles with one Hall sensor.
That hall sensors case is one plastic part with this busbar insulation plastic so it has to be used as one piece which can be trimmed into suitable lenght and shape.
I couldn't find 2016 Nissan Leaf battery wiring circuit diagram or manual, but it seems like they used that kind of sensor already from 2013 models which have smaller service disconnect plug.
Also I found out that they only use one signal for current measurement because on wiring harness three of four pins are fitted
I'll try to connect this to SimpBMS.

The sensor output is centered around 3.2V so it has more range in discharge than in charge direction. The 4 pin sensors have an additional low current range
