Bare minimum to run/start prius II (off grid generator)

Post by 0tik »

Hi. Since Prius costs way more than i can afford for such task, the only way for me to tinker with it is to buy parts of the drivetrain part by part.
Does anyone have a mechanic's manual with all the part numbers and schematics? Googling every single small part of the drivetrain is not a great way to go about it. It's easy to miss things without schematics, like all of the sensors and ECUs. By common knowledge i know about:

Engine, trans-axle, inverter, wiring harnesses
Intake pipe with throttle - are there any o2 or pressure sensors?
Exahust pipe - there should be some sensors there too
HV battery and its ECU
Fuel tank along with fuel pump
Immobiliser and something to start an engine
Wiring for 12v battery and gear selector. What about a Car Instrument Cluster Dashboard?

All of the airbags, A/C compressor, brake and steering wheel pump, ABS sensors, should be redundant i believe. Liquid cooling could be done DIY, I believe.

Where do you live? The Prius Gen 2 is a bit different depending on the emissions requirements for each country. The Aust fuel tank is a plastic container with an intank pump, the US version has a bladder in it for some reason and appears to cause a number of issues as an example. If you go to the Prius Chat forum https://priuschat.com/forum/gen-2-prius-main-forum.22/ there is a lit of information available there, but mostly US stuff, but often there is additional info added by members from different countries.
I have a Prius Gen 2 ex taxi in the yard at the moment that needs a battery, front brake pads and front wheels and it could be driven away, but if you aren't in Australia, that's not a lot of use to you

I live in Poland. Right now I cannot decide what to buy. I need a gasoline car so its either some random crapbox like mx-5 or pay more for one of those two high mileage GS450 listed in Netherlands and be ready to put some work and money to fix them. I want one badly as i never had any "luxury" car. Or buy a prius 2 or even 3 and work my way after a drivetrain in different direction. Buy and swap parts of it until I have a second working drivetrain... Which sounds like the most sane idea...

ps. on the wiki, in the motors page - link to p112 redirects to p111. If anyone can fix that it would be rad.
