Photos of nissan leaf BMS and associated cabling

Post by Jacobsmess »

I'm buying a nissan leaf BMS and the seller doesn't know exactly what I need and I'm not personally familiar with the nissan leaf BMS setup.
What do I need to use a BMS? Is it the one box and just one harness of cabling for cells and temp sensors?
Does anyone have a photo of the BMS and wiring so that I can forward it on to ask for them to confirm? Thanks

The BMS is the rectangular metal and plastic box with 4 plugs. Then there is also a battery box harness that has the round 36-pin plug and connects to the BMS. The BMS cell taps are located in the orange plastic bus bar assemblies (purple and black wires). You can't really remove the BMS cell taps without dissembling the battery pretty far.

This is the BMS from a 40kwh LEAF:

Thanks that's all very helpful. I don't need the cell taps themselves just the connectors for the BMS so that I can wire it up to some other cells (Lexus UX300E cells). How about the temperature and current sensors?

The temperature sensors are also in the orange bus bar pieces.

The current sensor is in the middle near the safety disconnect and looks like this:

Ok, the cells I have already have temp sensors and cell taps so I just need the leaf harness to then make up an adapter from the leaf to my cells. Thanks though that's all helpful!
