General component purchasing tips?

Post by ElectroMike »

Hello

Noobie here.  Have been shovelling so much information from this forum my head's about to burst!  Really enjoying it so far!

Quick general question on purchasing.  When buying a motor and inverter on ebay (or anywhere), what measures can you take to ensure you're not buying a "dud"?

Or, like secondhand purchases in general, not much; it's just the nature of the beast?  Make sure I have the right model/part number(s), cross my fingers and trust the breaker/seller?

For most components it's basically that. Fortunately for the most part EV components tend to be pretty reliable. I have had one inverter turn up dead on arrival but it was £90 and an old prius gen 2 inverter so I didn't bother to chase it.
