Making progress Alibro How soon do you think you'll be booking an MOT given the current booking delays?

LOl, Maybe before the end of the year.

This is getting like Project Binkey with the number of episodes.
Hopefully I'll be a little quicker than them.

Great to see your progress on this (and copy some stuff shamelessly since I have the same parts )
Any opinions are my own, unless stated otherwise. I take no responsibility if you follow my way of doing things and it doesn't work. Please double check with someone who knows what they are doing.

Copy as much as you like but there's no point in copying the stupidest student in the classroom.

Nicely done, love the big lump of battery in the boot for testing.

Take lots of video so we can all have a good laugh at your expense.
It was only when I had the modules spread out in the back of the car I realised how much space they take up.
Thanks mate.

I'm a month late but... well done!! First drive I always the best... and most scary! Great acceleration off the line. Now the easy bit... the tidying up of all the test rig

I still have a lot of work to do but getting scarily close to the bit I've been a bit fearful of - connecting it all up for real.

Nice craftsmanship .
I would advise you to mount the HV contact box in a way you can get good access to battery modules underneath. I found i had to constantly access battery at least in the beginning. This is why i made my battery boxes on the top of everything. Its really annoying to have to move inverter, charger and all its plumming to get to the battery .

Good point thanks but I'm going to do it all perfectly the first time so won't need to move anything.arber333 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 11:55 am Nice craftsmanship .

.
Nice to see this coming together. Great to see you thinking of a better way to build it constantly, but do consider this, atleast I tend to sometimes just stop and say "good enough" and continue to next step. Otherwise may end up doing 73 versions and then changing back to ver. 3 anyway.

If I was doing this again from scratch I'd change many things but as you say it's "good enough" however I have made one biggish change recently.JaniK wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 1:30 pm .

I've ditched the fuel tank battery box as it is just too much trouble and made two rear battery boxes the same way. I've one large one in the boot and a smaller one under the boot. That way the cables can go directly from one box to the other so no need for fuses or contactors between them.

Re: Freelander EV With Gen1 Leaf electrics and EVBMW VCU
That's a good idea, if you don't need all the boot then fueltank batteries can live there. I think I will also try to make a 5cm overlap for my boxes too, so cables would just go through.

This is my bottom box which fits under the boot floor.
And in position. Freelanders have a storage box under the boot floor so this hole is normal. I removed the bottom of it so my modules can fit. And this is the box in the boot. I still need to secure the modules and cut holes for cables.

Latest videos on Poo Tube
Plus a bonus hidden video testing with everything bolted down better than the last time.
Unfortunately no sound as I managed to turn off the mic somehow but the smoke tells the story.
The first run was in first gear and the second in second gear.
