Should I ever decide on the GSx50H route, I think I will just buy the whole vehicle, tear out what I need and hand the rest over to a scrapper.

I should invite him over here. The DIY EV forums don't have a lot of technical contributions anymore (most of you transitioned here), it's more of a general conversational advice forum.
