Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
You could also take advantage of the hard work done by member Dima and install his windows based web interace: https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=255#p2756 Installs on Windows 10 but have not tried earlier versions. Ir avoids the need to install Apache web server. It is a very ni...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
The answer to this question is on the front page of this thread, have you read the entire thread? Multiple times. But, no, I don't re-read every post before every post I make. It's also odd that you found the answer, but then didn't opt to just post the answer itself. "Give a man a fish, and y...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
Made a post in my own build thread, stuck because Digikey send 11x capacitors instead of 20x that the bag says should be in it (I need 13). My question is that I wasn't sure on the polarity of the bigger TO-220 transistors. So I went poking through Damien's videos to get a screenshot, and found tha...

Re: 1970 Opel GT - Forklift ACIM - Project Log & Inverter Build
The computers arrived on Friday. Shocking. Partial faith in the postal system restored. Maybe Damien's board will show up soon too. Wanting to order parts, but, still have some of the above questions as to what to order: 1 - What transistor should I order to replace this obsolete one? 2 - I presume...

Take a look at automotive grade linux that has a dashboard module and runs on the raspberry pi. The project is also supported by a number of large car companies including Toyota.Kevin Sharpe wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 6:21 pm ... would be great if we could build an open source solution for car displays (assuming one dosen't already exist).

Re: VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf [FINISHED]
But more exciting news today: Finally field weakening is working! See more here: https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=153&p=3964#p3964 There is no longer a weird torque knee at 4000 rpm but it just keeps revving. At 6000rpm I was too scared to continue, but it seemed torque ha...

Re: Toyota GT86 with Nissan Leaf Motor
I'm looking around for other clutches that would fit, but i guess i'm ordering the honda clutch disc again as it was the best fit and shrink a tube over it that i will insert in the Rotex GS38 coupler and wig weld it all together! Well I for one appreciate your efforts in researching a suitable clu...

Re: Toyota GT86 with Nissan Leaf Motor
Well, I just measured the spline again , and I get 19.2 x 21.6 - 20N . Close , maybe it would be good to get someone else to measure it as well ! I also remember reading on a Diy electric car forum that it's a 70 degree pressure angle . They took a close up photo and measured it , and it seemed ver...

Re: Testing FOC for synchronous motor
I'm also still wondering if some phase lag creeps in at higher rpm causing the Park-transformation to be off. It seemed like what is pure d-current at standstill causes acceleration at higher speed. You are correct, Lq and Ld are a moving target with both phase current magnitude and frequency. Atta...

Pure speculation, precharge and charge relay drivers for the battery pack. At least that was my thoughts when I saw a similar pair on the gen2 board.

Re: Testing FOC for synchronous motor
So I have finally found a combination that lets me spin up to 8000rpm (possibly more) in forward, produces good torque, doesn't trip out and actually follows the iq and id commands that I give pretty much. I did swap signs in the reverse Park transformation (until I got the desired result) and then...

Re: Testing FOC for synchronous motor
Ok, contradiction :) kiwifiat: do you KNOW that there is no asymmetry or do you not deem it possible? Have you run the motor at full speed&power in both directions with another controller? arber: what exactly did you oberserve? I can software-swap sin/cos, phase 1/2 and i1/i2. And I can rotate ...

Re: Testing FOC for synchronous motor
Now I'm starting to wonder if there is some kind of asymmetry built into the leaf motor. In one direction I can spin up to almost any speed (off the scale of the 8krpm rev counter). Now if I only change the sign of the desired iq it does spin in the other direction as expected but it doesn't spin a...

Re: Testing FOC for synchronous motor
Great progress, congratulations.
We know from the 202kW dyno run of Arlo1's Leaf motor driven Honda CRX over on Endless-Sphere that FOC works extremely well on IPM motors. No doubt it is just a matter of time before the open inverter is performing just as well.

Re: Salvaged resolver chips
Hm... i will not be using the bus. Only UVW or ABZ digital outputs in pulse mode. I will go back and draw an external clock. I totaly forgot about the recommended crystal oscilator. I got used to designspark and dont really have the time to learn new design interface. Maybe i will try to learn on v...

Re: Salvaged resolver chips
Ok i quickly made a circuit that i could use to drive my Lebowski inverter. I will try first and then publish my design. There are 5V plane and 12V plane. I intend to use one nonisolated 5V to 12V boost converter. I think 500mA should be enough? Or i can use this one, but i have to correct pinout. ...

Re: Salvaged resolver chips
I see, thanks. It is a lot of elements though. I dont think i have the space left on my board. I may just design a module board to be put over it. EDIT: I just noticed AD8397, thanks for the info, this should really simplify the circuit thanks. Which voltage do you use for excitation? Is it 5V regu...

Since i took brain boards off my Ampera and Prius inverters i decided to look them up more closely. I found two resolver AD chips on each board. Re: Testing FOC for synchronous motor
Now I'm wondering, does it make any sense to make id dynamic below field weakening. Like right now I'm scaling it with throttle. Should I rather set it to a fixed value? When you say fixed value do you mean x amps or do you mean x=-y%Iq? To achive MTPA on an IPM motor Id = -x%Iq . In the case of sa...

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
Wouldnt i need to time those last three holes as single pulse that is three times as long? I can imagine at 10000rpm this would make quite an error. Then what is the use for the large hole? Why wouldnt they just use 60 holes. It would even be symetrical, as in 60*X/min(60s) = X.... The missing hole...

Re: Ansaldo Motor
What type of position feedback does that motor have? If changing fslip makes no appreciable difference to the performance it might suggest that the firmware doesn't know the rotor position accurately.
