Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
Quick question, more applicable to everyone than on my personal build thread... Does anyone know what the connector(s?) inside the Gen2 inverter is(are)? I'm presuming I'm going to have to hook that up to Damien's board. Other than chopping off the plug and splicing wire-to-wire, it'd be nice to be ...

Re: 1970 Opel GT - Forklift ACIM - Project Log & Inverter Build
1) Digikey.ca have current stock of19,496 TO92 BC547 transistors, Part # BC547B-APMSCT-ND. Why do you say they are obsolete? No more obsolete than the STM32F103C8T6 used on a Blue Pill. Err, my mistake. The BOM lists that the BF959 is obsolete, and this is the replacement for it. The one you linked...

Re: 1970 Opel GT - Forklift ACIM - Project Log & Inverter Build
More dumb beginner questions. Current roadblocks: 1 - Can't figure out what parts to buy to populate the Prius board. I just lack the context of the circuit to know what to order from some of the items in the BOM, as listed above. Also, what connectors I would need to interface with the controller. ...

Three things arrived in the mail today: https://mattsawesomestuff.com/Projects/Vehicles/Opel/Opel%20EV%20123.jpg The Prius V2 board, the Blue Pill, and the ST-Link to program it. All purchased about the same time, one from overseas and the other two a day's drive away. Y'know, you try to support loc...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
AwesomeMat, the bloke that removed the cables had to open the V2 to get the HV transaxle cables out of it, and they also forgot to put the 6 bolts back. Yeah, I figured that out shortly after. The case screws were only finger tight too. But, other than lying about that, seems to be undamaged. I won...

Re: 1970 Opel GT - Forklift ACIM - Project Log & Inverter Build
The computers arrived on Friday. Shocking. Partial faith in the postal system restored. Maybe Damien's board will show up soon too. Wanting to order parts, but, still have some of the above questions as to what to order: 1 - What transistor should I order to replace this obsolete one? 2 - I presume ...

Re: 1970 Opel GT - Forklift ACIM - Project Log & Inverter Build
The blue pill is based on a design which is no longer manufactured by it's creator. I doubt you'll find it on digikey or any of the major electroncs distributors. Ebay or a plethora of Chinese sites are your best bet. Oh, I see, it's an actual named thing. I presumed people here were just calling t...

1. More like N2222a GP signal transistor, though gain is different 2. Capacitor, EU type 5. Low resistance rectifier diode 6. ? Re: 1970 Opel GT - Forklift ACIM - Project Log & Inverter Build
Assistance needed I'm going through and making an electronics order from Digikey, using the BOM here: https://github.com/damienmaguire/Prius-Gen-2-Inverter/blob/master/PriusG2_V1_BOM.ods I do this like, once every 5 years on a project, so, I have basically no idea what I'm doing. My opinion of the ...

Purchased!
6500km away, on another continent.
Also today I purchased something from within my own province, a few hours north. It gave me a 3 week estimated delivery time. Let's see which gets here first. Should be neck and neck.

Re: 1970 Opel GT - Forklift ACIM - Project Log & Inverter Build
AFAIK, Damien's board there is used for development, i.e., it's not a replacement logic board. I'm not sure if I understand this correctly. Are you saying: 1 - That the board is not going to fulfill that purpose, it's just to help people reverse engineering. Or, 2 - To not expect this to be a finis...

I guess my first questions would be... What should I buy? http://evbmw.com/index.php/evbmw-webshop/toyota-bare-boards/prius-gen-2-inverter-bare-logic-board <-- Is this the correct thing I will need to purchase from Damien's website? And, has anyone built a BOM for it yet, so I can start ordering par...

1970 Opel GT - Forklift ACIM - Project Log & Inverter Build
Figured I should create my own thread here rather than butting in on the actual controller threads. The purpose of this thread is mainly the inverter side of things, and the electronics side of things, since the braintrust of DIY EV electronics seems to have gravitated here. I won't re-document the ...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
Let me know if I should be posting this stuff in a project thread instead of here. Picked up the 2009 Gen 2 inverter. $150 CAD. https://mattsawesomestuff.com/Projects/Vehicles/Opel/Opel%20EV%20115.jpg Came with literally nothing other than the inverter itself. I asked what the hole was for and what ...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
You can probably get the cables from another wrecked car. These things are everywhere. I live in the Canadian Prairies, where the oil and gas industry suckles across the land and cities of 100,000+ are 3-8 hours drive apart. No one drives a Prius. Pick N Pull only had one by mistake (a Gen 1, thoug...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
I have found a 2009 Prius (Gen 2) inverter for $150. But, the shop has already pulled it and gotten rid of the vehicle, so, no cabling or wiring of any sort apparently.
How significant of an impediment is that going to be for me?

Re: Porsche Boxster with Tesla Drivetrain
Do you think it would be worthwhile bypassing the radiator when in battery heating mode? Yes once we work out how the Tesla three way valve works we will do it, might just plumb it in and leave it un used like a few other features on the car. You could just use two SPST valves instead of a SPDT val...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
I live in a place with very limited EV adoption, or even hybrid adoption. But, I've seen a Prius finally come up at one of the scrap yards (a 2001, first gen), and maybe a 2005 from another yard. I'm wondering, between the 4 generations of Prius's, which of the 4 (seems to be no efforts into control...

Re: Forklift motor wanted
Forklift motors are probably the cheapest and easiest ways to go still. You can usually get one anywhere from free to $200 (scrap value). Call up, or go to any place that repairs forklifts, and ask if they have any old DC motors in the back, or if they would let you take one off the next machine the...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
I'm having a great time watching this progress. Can anyone dumb down for me what it means? 300-ish volts and 350 amps for a motor controller? (Or 600A if you can combine MG2 with MG1?). I'm getting closer to the point where I'll be needing a controller, anyone have any advice on whether I should be ...

Re: help any forklift motor experts is this one suitable??
Recently on the DIYEV forums, a few users from the UK have been mentioning that they cannot find a Series-Wound DC forklift motor. They're saying that no junkyards have them anymore, no one's seen them in years, etc. Basically zero availablility and that this is a dead-end for UK EVers. I've been sp...

Re: Prius Gen3 Inverter Hacking
Damian - Thanks for the updates! People on DIYEV forums have been asking again and again what they can do for an inverter, and I've been saying "Damian's working on something to hijack Prius Gen 3 converters"... and then have been saying "... but he's sold out right now I think"....
