Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
Sorry to see. I don't know how common this is, but here is a photo from the first time I had the inverter cover off. Note that there were disturbances in the re-enterable encapsulant before I ever applied power to this unit. You'll need to click on it for better detail. I didnt pay much attention to...

Re: LDU parameter tuning
Well I have seen it but feel it is very limited...would like a complete list :-) I bought a fully build and tested Tesla LDU card and am trying to get it up and running. So far I connected Ignition 12V, ground, start button. I don't get it to respond to the start signal, I can only activate it manu...

Not on a leaf setup, but Ive had a blown IGBT cause an overcurrent on start issue.

Re: Inverter Firmware v4.17.R
On the next update, would it be possible to add a decimal to the value of the throttle and brake ramp settings? That would offer a greater level of tuning resolution, particularly if using the throtramp as a launch control by going WOT before letting off the brake. My initial thought would have been...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
I too had to swap signal wires at the encoder. I strongly suggest powering up at low voltage and verify smooth running. My symptom was a slow jogging. I swapped the middle two wires and immediately had smooth running. It does seem that there were some variations through the years. Perhaps its just a...

Re: LDU parameter tuning
The pressure sensor works brilliantly. This has been the smoothest and most usable transition from throttle to braking I’ve experienced with this motor.

Re: LDU parameter tuning
You should set the brake ramp low, just like the throttle. Unless you want your rear wheels to lock up on a tesla motor. I’d argue even a setting of 1 is too fast for aggressive regen. I almost feel like we would benefit from greater resolution by increasing the time period of the ramp per 100ms in...

Re: LDU parameter tuning
OK, so I’ve got a 1500psi transducer all set up for pot2. Min (no pedal) at 750 and max (standing on the pedal) at 4095. Now, will this increase or decrease effective brakenom regen with pedal input. I’d like to set it up that it brakes harder the more the pedal is pressed. I have reduced hydraulic ...

Re: LDU parameter tuning
Ahhhhh I think I've got it. So pin 2 is required to enable pedal braking and the POT2 does not provide any discreet trigger, only acts a trim value to brknompedal/brkmax.

Re: LDU parameter tuning
So we've had some discussion regarding go paramaters, so Ill sway it toward stopping. Just to clarify the brake parameters slightly. brknompedal : Preset level of regen when 12v is applied to pin 2 on the AMP connector. brkpedalramp: Ramp up time from 0% to brknompedal % setting. From my experience,...

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
Correct! Except mine is a 9 tooth wheel. Im undecided which route to take. I can buy a GPS sender for around $150 which would do the trick in relative plug and play fashion.

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
Another possible thought is motor speed should be directly proportional to ground speed. If you could take a canbus input of motor speed, wouldnt it then become a simple a/b = c output pulses equation?

Re: LDU parameter tuning
Great explanation. Interesting to note that I had a couple recurring over current faults from a dead stop when the boost was at the pre-loaded 2000 value. That seems to have gone away after backing that value down to 1500. I plan on doing some datalogging over the weekend to get a better understandi...

In the interim, if anyone else gets to it before I do, this is my go-to software for reviewing datalogs from my recent ICE powered endeavors. I do love me a good scatter plot

Re: LDU parameter tuning
Good stuff!
Damien, what was your boost value set to when you had the car on the dyno? Aside from breaking driveline, when might the boost value start to have unfavorable consequences from a motor/inverter standpoint?

Re: Log spot values to .csv file?
The copy and paste doesn’t seem like much of a burden if it simplifies the code part of it. I eventually would like to log over CAN but haven’t purchased any hardware to do so yet.

LDU parameter tuning
While the general parameters seem to be well documented on their own, I thought it would be a good conversation to talk specifically about what parameters you should and shouldn’t change on the LDU and how these changes affect actual driveability performance as well as power levels/delivery I’m a ne...
