Re: A simple question of battery thermal management
Thanks for the info. Since I'm planning to use a Leaf drive system in a car of similar weight whilst driving as conservatively as possible and since the Leaf has no battery thermal management I thought I wouldn't either. In New Zealand where I live I would expect to have half a dozen or so frosts d...

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
Welcome. I just hope it works off the bench. @doobedoobedo, can this schetch be made to work with 0RPM input. Like say if you have 0rpm on the motor program would still give you 800rpm. Better yet, for the range 0rpm to 800rpm system could just state 800rpm. A sort of neutral without neutral.... Th...

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
I am getting the Panzer back next week and have a problem with the speedometer. In the 8 series the speedo is fed by pulses from a reed switch and magnet mounted in the differential. As the diff is no longer there due to the Tesla drive unit swap I needed another way to feed the speedometer signal....

Re: Resolver Excitation with V2 mainboard
I am now drawing brd for resolver card and making one proof of concept alongside. I would like to know from those who had done it already, is it better if i install one 12V regulator to have precise 12V or is 12.8Vdc good enough from the car? I can get one small 5V to 12V stepup from china and i can...

Re: The parameter documentation project
Hello arber333. Thank you for your efforts in evaluating the deadtimes. From your information could there be a window of minimum and maximum deadtimes that can be recommended ? Obviously too little deadtime can lead to shoot through but what about too much deadtime, what would be the effect please?...

Re: Field Weakening for synchronous motors
Yes, interesting. Without field weakening 1080rpm@60V. That is 6500rpm@360V. Actually quite a usable speed. The extra current for field weakening is really high, I'd rather shift gear :) Hi Johannes What about those who run 200Vdc systems? Dont write them off just yet. Also we are using 600A switch...

Re: Enova motor parameter setup
Yes the point of udcnom is to automatically determine the values for fweak and boost should the voltage be unequal to udcnom. You can see the result of the calculation in boostcalc and fweakcalc. iacmax the topic of the week :) iacmax tries to preempt over current shutdown by reducing slip and outp...

I found Arlos comment on weakening here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=63982&p=1303708&hilit=weakening#p1303708 and here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=63982&p=1271932&hilit=weakening#p1271932 So he can rev the motor to 14Krpm...

Hm... may be adding another driver for additional IGBT module and connecting it to motor winding can make a (not so)separate 1phase charger providing some additional connection and control inside box.
Well firmware should support the 4th IGBT too...

Re: Inverter powered battery heating
@ PRB617: i think you misunderstood, the point is to use motor windings + inverter transistors to excite current flow through cells while stationary. That way one could sit in a car turn on seat heater and/or Webasto and wait some time for battery to raise temperature. It is ingenious and if it is s...

Hi sfk Couple of years back i had the same problem. I had to compromise with cells as only LiFe chemistry was available. I managed to cram 30kWh worth of cells into Mazda MX-3. All was well and good in summer. I could reach my round route even with highway driving for every day untill winter. Winter...

Johannes - can we use Your idea? Very well i can send some boards to production soon. ...

Re: The parameter documentation project
Please could you show where the deadtime values can be seen or the calculation data required in the STM32 datasheet, thank you. I didnt bother with theoretical calculation much. I just connected GE to 2ch scope and probed 50% PWM. Then i entered values and observed results. Results were not at all ...

Re: The parameter documentation project
Deadtime I suggest first to test without DClink connected. You can do this by connecting 2channel scope directly to GE terminals of IGBT module. WARNING! The same should not be attempted with live DC link connected to inverter. Even 12Vdc can cause large interference and noise since both probe GND c...

Re: Ansaldo Motor
Another day, another tune. Good news is we now have zero rpm torque. Enough to break free of the handbrake in 1,2 and 3rd gear so big improvement. also, the car will now move off using only 400-500W of battery power. Parameter file attached. Now the bad news. I simply cannot get linear acceleration...

Re: Ansaldo Motor
I just thought of another systematic tuning method if all else fails: Set boost=500 Pull the handbrake, go into manual mode. Be ready to shut down the inverter should the car decide to take off. Set ampnom=100, fslipspnt=0.5 Now increase boost until you hit your desired current limit. Try to quanti...

Re: Ansaldo Motor
Like i said you probably need way more slip for takeoff. Try using 3Hz for a fslipmin and develop from there. I have seen designers use variations on 3 there. Like 3Hz or 3.3Hz or 3.6Hz etc... Also since you have 200Vdc you should consider adding more boost. Try 7000. If there is too much boost inve...

Re: Ansaldo Motor
Making progress : https://youtu.be/wY7SCdl-W6U Hi D What happens if you give it more boost parameter? I have a rather low inductance motor too and it demands sharp minimal slip 3Hz at rather high boost setting to start smoothly. Like 7000 boost at 380Vdc! If i provide less boost motor stalls at low...
