Garage clear out
As I'm now committed with the Lexus GS450h conversion I want to sell some of the stuff I have purchased along the way and with too much enthusiasm that I won't have use for in the near future. Cheap shipping can be organized for Baltics, Poland, Germany, Belgium, Holland and UK south-east (there are...

Re: BMW hybrid battery group buy
@jnsaff do you mind giving an update on the plan now demand has been quantified somewhat? It seems like quantity is around 75 packs now, surely this is enough to open a conversation? I can't see it growing by an order of magnitude, and it's unclear what the target is here... I updated the totals, w...

Re: Project AKU: GS450h driven by GS450h transmission and GS450h inverter
Managed to get the car into my garage today, not without some minor incidents. The rocker cover has been taken off on one side of the engine and at some point during our effort to get it into my garage I managed to accidentally get the hybrid system into a state where it wanted to start the ICE. A l...

Re: GS450H Discussion
I don't know about the Lexus ones (yet) but for the Toyota ones Prof Kelly says: fill it until some starts coming out and then you're good. Ideally when the transmission is on a level ground the oil should be not coming out but not below the fill port. Practically I don't think you should worry abou...

Feedback: ‘I'll wait until you get more volume... they won't take you seriously otherwise and you'll only get one chance to order’
I’ll try to drum up interest elsewhere as well.

Project AKU: GS450h driven by GS450h transmission and GS450h inverter
A GS450h with a dead ICE showed up a local classifieds site and obviously I could not resist. So the plan is to have it ferried to my garage and to start work on it soon. The first thing I want to achieve is to make the car move around with the GS450h VCU from Damian which I already have without rem...

Re: Electric Car Conversion Courses - Ireland 2020
I attended one of these courses and I’d say it would be beneficial to understand ohms law and things as basic as that and obviously the more you understand beforehand the better (you could be asking questions you did not get answers for in here or in YouTube videos) but to attend the beginner course...

Re: Toyota Auris and Yaris Inverter Logic board
Little bit of an update on this from my side, I managed to solder everything including replacing the resistors and the reversed MG2 current sensor connector and the IGBT driver board connector. I think I managed to kill the -5V power supply somehow however. I saw a spark fly on my mg2 connector hack...

Re: BMW hybrid battery group buy
This here is to gauge interest, as there seems to be an opportunity for deep discounts.
Once there is enough interest the details can be worked out but in general I would expect the seller doing as little work as they can i.e. packs won't be dismantled before delivery.

I assume you mean R42 and R41 should be 6k2?Jack Bauer wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 2:25 pm Bad news : MG1 resistor divider values are wrong. My fault not JLC. R42 and 42 should be 6k2 not 4k7 and R46 and 45 should be 3k6 not 4k7.
I received the board just now, less than 48h from order, much wow, such thanks.

BMW hybrid battery group buy
As there’s been some interest in the BMW hybrid batteries for them being full voltage in small capacity increments and supposedly capable of high currents and priced reasonably there is an opportunity to group together to purchase these batteries in large quantities with possibly for about 50EUR-ish...

I guess the reason number one is that these questions have for the most part been answered in the forum before and although the threads are long and the info might be buried the person has not bothered to find it. Wikis help with that but someone needs to do it.

Re: i3 (94Ah Samsung SDI) pulse currents?
My plan for stress testing the eig c20 cells is to use the isabellenhütte shunt and a bunch of contactors that I can program to open different value high power resistors. I have 100w rated 0R2 resistors and all the stuff already just need to find the time to build the bench. If you want a single Sam...

I have a bunch of the 800VDC/100A rated small contactors up for sale here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=712 if you can switch off after pre-charge is complete you don't even need an economiser.

20 Siemens motors on diyelectriccar
Probably way overpriced but plenty of room to haggle or someone to organize a group buy.

Shipping from Tallinn to anywhere on the way to London (+ around) can be arranged for much less than that. Hit me up if you want the contact, I got a pallet of batteries weighing about a tonne from London to Tallinn for 350 GBP.

Damien, have you analysed the model 3 charger at the extent that you can verify that hardware design would support bidirectional charging? regarding: https://electrek.co/2020/05/19/tesla-bidirectional-charging-ready-game-changing-features/ Thank you for this bit of information, this is directly rel...

Also it helps a lot to have the inverter at room temperature. I tried at first in my garage at slightly above freezing and it was really hard to open it, after being indoors overnight it was much easier.

Re: Lexus RX450H Inverter Controler
You could run the transaxle from the GS450h inverter with the VCU from Damien. This would mean purchasing another inverter. Unless you’re willing to reverse engineer the RX inverter I’d say this is the safest bet.

Re: Lexus RX450H Inverter Controler
I don’t think anyone has tried RX inverter yet. Transaxle though should be pretty easy, it’s a larger variant of the Gen3 Prius transaxle. The inverter could be similar to RAV4 that I believe Damien has on his shelf for future reverse engineering.
