Re: Prius Gen 4 Inverter Hacking

I will get myself a new Gen4 inverter and also the RAV4 version (which looks the same except it has an addition inverter for the rear wheel drive). My idea for starting to figure out the CAN messages would be to use the SavvyCan changes feature (can't remember what it's called) and then start changi...

Re: Ebay Auctions Of Interest

There is an ebay vendor in Los Angeles area that has lots of very interesting items available for EV Conversions, including ISA shunts and contactors. I have bought from him in the past and he has never failed on these purchases. I would suggest check him out but coordinate here so forum members wil...

Re: Isabellenhütte IVT-S shunts available

I might get my paws on a couple soon. Otherwise the manufacturer is selling them in multiples of 12. If we get enough takers I can put in another order. They are 165 EUR each including worldwide shipping (for multiples I can combine and get the shipping a bit cheaper).

Re: HVJB Build

The 2A is something I remember from JB's conversion course. As for when to close the main contactor, in general you have three options. 1. If you have a current sensor (the ISA shunt for example) in your HVJB then you can close the main contactor when current draw has fallen to almost zero (take int...

Re: HVJB Build

For the precharge you want to allow around 2A of current. So at 400V you'd want a 220 Ohm resistor rated for about 100W. Tesla people seem to be more sporty with a 100 Ohm resistor IIRC but this is the ballpark. Also I too have a 450h sitting in my garage so happy to exchange notes. Mine is currentl...

Re: LEXI - Lexus GS450H Hybrid to Electric Drive

I have one of the Korlan devices on my desk (and a panda can and a teensy with can and others for that matter) and a gs450h with a dead engine in my garage. I also have the complete wiring diagram and have a few ideas about where to tap in to the PT can. Once I get to all that I'll share captures an...

As full voltage pack is about 9kWh you’d most likely want to parallel 2-3-4-5 or so packs. So this should be no problem at all.

Re: Sound for EVs "AVAS"

On a very personal note, I feel that glorifying dinosaur burning technology with fake sounds is not something I'd every want to do. For me inverter whine is beautiful and possibly quite enough for pedestrian notification. Though if the lawmen say it needs to be louder, I'm sure there are ways. Peopl...

Re: Project AKU: GS450h driven by GS450h transmission and GS450h inverter

Currently I’m reconditioning the hybrid battery, this involves cleaning the corroded bus bars and charging each module to 8V with a lab power supply. For the full pack I plan to use meanwell led drivers in series. They are CC/CV and the current/voltage are adjustable. The lowest current for the ones...

So funny thing happened today, as the car had shown that it’s hybrid battery is empty I decided to charge it and see whether I can move it around just by electric power without any modifications. I pulled the battery out and got it on my bench and measured 300.6V as the pack voltage. So this should ...
