I've done a talk about it at a hacker camp and recently done a walk around video if you're interested.

Re: 2:1 reduction gear ideas?

VW Golf II and III Syncro might have other gear ratios than the Audi TT on there transfere case. After a quick search they all appear to have the same part number across the VW/Audi golf and TT ranges which is a shame but worth considering. I had no idea the motors were comparable in the Mitsubishi...

Re: 2:1 reduction gear ideas?

For some reason I thought you were doing a bike then all you would need is a really big custom made sprocket (laser cut)? Yea I am doing a bike but I want to avoid a chain final drive if at all possible. This is for various reasons but mostly because chains are short lived which makes maintenance e...

2:1 reduction gear ideas?

Anyone got any practical ideas about how to achieve a 2:1 reduction to reduce the motor rpm / multiply the torque before going into a final drive?
It's for a Outlander MGR, 60kw.

Oh that's a disappointment, I didn't take it that far and just assumed it was global.

Arber333 sounds like he has a good plan for an alternative solution.

Has anyone found a source for those connectors so far? I just got quoted 150 quid for one by a breakers. Have you tried the samples form I linked to a couple of posts above? (You might have to register an account) Most companies are quite generous with handing out samples in 1s and 2s and I've been...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter

Thanks for making the Wiki page. :) I can foresee the driveshaft coupling being a challenge with the splines - anyone have any advice on this? I tried a clutch plate from a Skoda Felicia 1.3 P/N 047141034 as it had the correct No of splines and matching ID / OD spline dimensions. However the spline ...

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle

I just bought a MGR and started doing some basic testing with a Honda IMA inverter and a "blue pill". Might be worth starting a new topic for Honda IMA inverter. I had a few issues with the Bluepill simply because I didn't realise it needed inputs for currents and voltages before it would...

PS: would you be able to get an oscilloscope trace of the spikes on the DC bus when "doing it wrong"? Just for the LOLs, of course. Not just a oscilloscope trace but a Before and After trace to show the difference of attaching the power to the right place despite the unintuitivly short co...

The Battery Vehicle Society (BVS) is all but dead. They've come very close to voting to wind it up. Thats sad to hear. I used to go to the BEVOB Battery Electric Vehicles Of Bristol back when Nikki used chair it and also had an active role in BVS but now she's moved to the USofA I've tried to find ...

Thanks arber333 for the advice and posting your parameters over on the Mitsubishi thread. Still no luck, but the shaft is turning slowly now. I'm now running the FOC software on a Bluepill and compared the parameters to the very similar ones arber333 posted in the Mitsubishi thread. I've set Voltage...

Still can't get the motor to spin. Yaris inverter and a Mitsubishi Outlander rear motor. The manual start spun the motor but trying to get it to go with the resolver connected is not yielding any results. The spoofed currents are set to 1.65V and are hovering around 0A on the spot values. However is...

It's a Hirose GT18WB-14DS-HU. Digikey and Mouser both list it, but with longish lead times. I've also found it at specialist automotive connector suppliers, but also only to order. I've found the Hirose sample request page. I've had overall good results when requesting samples like this from compan...

The photo does not show up the tell-tale blue/green powder indicating corrosion of the crimp connector. ...

Re: Moto Morini Dart 350 motorbike

Probably, I've never seen one up close to compare. However the i3 packs contain 12 cells firmly bonded together in the aluminium chassis. There's some good youtube videos of the factory assembly of them which show both the glue going on as well as the plasma / electrostatic preparation of the surfac...

Just a heads up that the BMW i3 packs can not be split because they are bonded together in the aluminium frame with some sort of structural glue.
If you go looking several people have tried failed.

Re: Problems running on a bare STM32

Thanks Isaac96 & yaroslav I got there in the end. I was heading in the right direction but didn't quite make it. Another problem was caused by connecting the supply to the ESP8266 from the Bluepill 3V3 voltage regulator which resulted in high levels of noise on all the analogue inputs. The bigge...

Problems running on a bare STM32

Not sure if I've missed a trick but I'm trying to get the code to run on a bare STM32 module. I've tried both the Bluepill and an authentic STM32 Nucleo with the larger 64 pin chip. Looking through the forums it would appear I only should only need to supply power to the STM32 module & ESP8266 +...

When applying PWM before enabling the DC/DC or enable does the output still rise momentarily to ~16V before stabilising to the set value?

A single open-source unit for inverter+charger+dc/dc might possibly work on my bike. I have very similar ambitions. What voltage do these things work down to? Damien has done many inverter / motor tests at 12V. ;) I've messed about with one running a 24V motor... The control logic needs a...
