Re: 2nd LDU blown in a month - EDIT: False alarm. [SOLVED]

doesn't the battery voltage play a role in fweak? Boxter EV has 360V, I think you have considerably less.

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit (LDU) Motor Teardown and maintenance

There is no reason to run anything externally. The water comes from below, flows around the cover and exits at the top as before. Only the space for the gap could become tight, so it makes sense to drill a hole in the channel. The hole would then be where the word "seal" is in your picture.

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit (LDU) Motor Teardown and maintenance

Moodifying an existing manifold should be easy. The tube is difficult to press out, but shortening it up to the retaining ring should work. Then you only need a cover in place of the sealing ring that leaves enough space for the shaft and has a gap to the shortened tube. If the gap becomes too small...

Re: Tesla LDU board problem

I have moved the whole wifi module outside. For this I have made a cable with a molex connector and cut a suitable hole in the housing. The mudul is attached to the molex counterpart and sealed. In addition, I have also led the programming connections for the STM32 out, so that I can connect a ST Li...

Re: Accelerator pedal dead zone

It seems important to me that there is only one behavior for each speed/throttle position, regardless of whether I accelerated or decelerated beforehand or pressed the pedal slowly or quickly or was above or below a value in the meantime. For me, the behavior of an ICE engine is exemplary. Whether t...

Re: CCS Test at Ionity Unterschleißheim - who wants to volunteer?

I participated in the e-cannonball event last weekend and we met a couple of Ionity reps there. They invited us to test our CCS implementation at their test facility in Unterschleißheim. For me that is a 500 km drive which I'd rather do by train ;) Plus there isn't even a CCS socket in Touran yet. ...

Re: Tesla LDU Controller Stops Working with Aggressive Throttle

ocurlim is the peak current that is allowed to flow through the inverter and motor. If this is exceeded even for a fraction of a second the inverter will shut down. It is a safety feature like a fuse (but much faster than a fuse). I don't know what a good limit is for the LDU as I don't have one, h...

Re: Jumpy start, but smooth accel on SDU in VW T2

It's also worth noting that the throttle dead zone makes this "feel" worse, because your foot isn't used to finding the zero point. I don't use regen so my throttle doesn't have the 30% deadzone, and I found that made the experience quite a bit better. uhi22, tom91, I and others have disc...

If I have understood the current developments correctly, I will no longer need an ESP8266 in the future because everything runs via CAN. How should I proceed if I have a bare LDU board or want to bring an old one up to date. I have an InnoMaker USB2CAN module, ST-Link V2 and STM32CubeProgrammer on t...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?

I solved this very easily. A charge button next to the charging socket switches GND to a relay that switches on the power to the LIM and my charge controller. After the controller starts, it holds the relay and the power supply remains. If after 1 minute no charging process starts, it switches itsel...

Shipping shouldn't be a problem. I can get the parts and send them to the US.
You should check whether the M25 cable glands are enough for you and take the lengths into account.

Re: Inline wire HV disconnects that are IP67+

If only the cables are to be extended, I could imagine a combination of a threaded sleeve, connector and two cable glands. Inside it could be isolated with shrink tubing and/or casting resin. The shield would also go through. Definitely the cheaper option.

Maybe that's suitable. Cable 50mm² to 120mm². At least easy to get here in Germany. In different colors and codings, also in red and black for direct current.

It can definitely be controlled. It sends 6 CAN messages and receives 15+ messages. CAN high is on A191-1B pin 4, CAN low is on pin 10, GND on pin 2, Kl30 on pin 7, Kl15 on pin 9.

Re: Can't get any regen with LDU, help! [SOLVED]

Replacing the entire inverter is not a problem. There are two temperature sensors, the three lines to the stator and the temperature lines to the stator. Everything plugged or screwed. To access the screws for the heatsink you have to remove the busbars. You can reach the three screws for the stator...

Actually doesn't look bad. The battery and battery attachment could look more professional. Above all, the loose pouch cells and the BMS wiring will have deterred the TÜV. Here I would only have mentioned that they are from a Mrcedes.

Re: where to pass TUV in Germany

You should maybe change your request at the TÜV. There is the VdTÜV leaflet 764. It summarizes the important regulations for the conversion to an EV drive. When you report to the TÜV, you should state that you have this leaflet and have designed your conversion accordingly.

Re: Altering regen on the fly

Here is the input circuit for the LDU. I think it's the same with you. You can, for example, pull the signal externally with a 10kOhm pull-up resistor at 10V to 5V and lower it with an arduino with a mosfet to ground and PWM as you wish.
