Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
Please plot the Potnom value, this should rise with the throttle position. Does the value for dir change to Foward when you pull forward high?

It has its full power, Zero-EV has had multiple motors and we can confirm the RAV-4 or B-class motors are electrically identical to Tesla Model S units.

Damien, as always great having the time to chat with you and exchange some ideas and laughs.
The panser is looking sweet, only thing I would say you need is to get the damm BMS sorted. I am sure you will have something soon

Re: DIY CHADEMO charging
A quick thing i noticed in the video, Damien says his battery is full yet the station still gets requested to pump 125Amps into the car and then shuts down. This is a very rudimentary way of controlling the end of charge, or actually not controlling it at all. I would expect current to taper, reques...

Is there any sort of info available on which bms systems it currently support and if the code will be made available to be modified by individuals?

Charging is already done when you drive an input high, it sends the appropriate can bus and drives a relay output.
I need to find some time to make the new design, currently really busy at work. Got so many nice projects going on there.

Re: LDU parameter tuning
I’d argue even a setting of 1 is too fast for aggressive regen. I almost feel like we would benefit from greater resolution by increasing the time period of the ramp per 100ms instead of 10ms in the settings. Yes I would second that, or have it take 0.1 increments. A bit more control over the ramp ...

You should set the brake ramp low, just like the throttle. Unless you want your rear wheels to lock up on a tesla motor.

Re: Simp BMS
Its just using the teensy onboard serial. https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/td_uart.html The nextion display is there to show pack stats, it does not show all cell voltages as that is too much. The interface is only one way, as in the bms populates the info on the display and the display does not send any...

I have been quite actively developing a system that would allow the reuse of existing bms slaves from OEM vehicles, as documented on DIYelectricCar forum. This has been received very well, especially by the solar storage community. All the coding is open sourced, as this allows others to add more OE...

I have had bad experiences with this BMS, known by a few as the killer bms.
Have you checked for any cells at 0V? These batteries are known to die when not in a char and being charged regularly.

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
Adding onto the encoder cable, if you ever have issues getting a stable spinning motor, Always plot your rpm/Fstat as if that is really jumpy it means the encoder signal is dirty.
Shielded cable is a must, without it the encoder pulses are not clean enough.

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
The brake input, creates a negative throttle so regen command. I would strongly suggest otherwise as this can cause unexpected behaviour. Please look at making sure you get the watchdog running in your UNO, as this application will not want any of those nasty arduino lock up issues. https://folk.uio...

Contrary to that, the chargers are fused. see the High Voltage Junction Box https://www.diyelectriccar.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=681&pictureid=4625 Kevin you even uploaded the PCB schematic yourself. You should always fuse an HV source, so if your charger can produce HV fuse it. You should ...

I use my Fluke 115 everyday, never will i go back to a none auto ranging meter.
As a test I bought an OWON B35T+, a bluetooth multimeter that also does standalone logging. Having had some expensive meters capable of just that at work it was an indispensable tool for the role I had.

Re: 4-channel BMS with daisychain bus
Would you not consider while charging to use the shunts to somewhat pull the top cells down towards the end of charge?
Or are you planning on running a charge till one hits full and the stop charging balance and then restart charge when cells are under a certain value?
