I'm very tempted to take a punt on it but it's a bit far from me.

£2000 for a 68Kwh pack sounds like a very good deal.
Anyone know anything about these packs?

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
1. Could you elaborate on the wiring behind your VCU. I am not familliar with ULN2803A and i am not sure if i can wire VCU outputs to drive relays or other devices directly or you suggest i use maybe 8channel relay module? 2. Is ULN2803A capable of providing positive signal or is it a sink device l...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
I think I've only ever used the standard arduino analogWrite() function.
It should not interfere with other operations, not really any different to updating the temp gauge.
Do let us know how it goes once you have it running.

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
I handle this sort of thing with my dash controller companion board, but there is no reason why you could not do this directly on the VCU it self. All (HC) Outputs are PWM capable and low side driven through the darlington arrays. Out7 (PIN 25) Is currently unused so that might be a good one foe thi...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
Again i am using your VCU module as i cant programm my version fast enough. Please let me know how i could change the code to invert D21 input so i could connect PP signal directly from charging port. I dont like to use relay for this... Hi Sorry I missed this... Yes that should work, you will also...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter
I would say the timing it's quite fussy about that.
The inverter is just that not a charger, in the OEM system the overlapping messages are in fact a kind HV interlock check.

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter
Well done, what was the problem in the end? Be good to know so we can better help others in the future. For RSDN - I have mine connected to simpBMS main contactor out via a relay, so it's only held low if simp is happy, this should give a more graceful shut down in the case of a fault. As for voltag...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter
RSDN should be fine floating, pulling it low is no bad thing, timing is not relevant here as far as I know Pulling it high will stop the inverter 360v should be good. And yes you are correct 10,000 is 0 torque, anything above will be positive (forward) and bellow will be negative (backwards). The ge...

Re: [WIP] Mercedes 310E (310D campervan) - GS450H/GS300H
I've gone through and checked wiring and continuity this evening but nothing but I also checked the torque Vs pot and there is no torque request with pot change. Did you check inter-pair resistance? Should be 60ohm across each pair? I had problems getting the motor to spin without solid ground conn...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
My view is to connect in13 to 12V when precharge will finish and contactor comes ON. Would that be good or not? I am not so sure as i see in your code you observe inverter voltage on precharge. So should inverter be 12V powered before precharge or after? tnx Yes I read voltage from inverter and als...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
No need for the dash module, but the BMS is required, not a massive job to strip it out if you want to run totally stand alone.
I've had chademo working but not had time to test it fully, been busy with work and other projects.

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
Hi Arber, I still have pre charge resistor and pre charge contactor - just a better quality one and more checks in the code. Charger and heater are all connector to the inverter bus bar as OEM, so a precharge sequence is required to use either. My chademo system uses a second pair of contactors to c...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
Good to hear you have it spinning!
I have v2 board - this is V2 of the dash controller and I've been adding CHAdeMO to it but have not actually got around to testing it.
This board is t4.2 based.
I also have the VCU boards if you need one.

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
Motor pins drive the switech (speedo) motor, they are defined here: SwitecX25 Motor(MaxMotorSteps, 6, 5, 4, 3); HC outs are free for you to use as you require, they are low side FYI and should all support PWM. Normally you have two high side isolated inputs available too. There is no code in place f...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
Nice progress. So the runaways are kind of expected, it seems it's not enough to just send 0 torque when there is no load on these motors, at least that is what I found, tuning the 2710 value you can cause a stop, but maybe this is actually sending a few grams off negative torque (which would explai...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
line 1119 : torqueRequest += 10000; It's used in other places for logging etc, but a small offset should not affect it. For creep function (i personally don't like it..) I did have in mind to use a minimum torque function for this, although i think a function based on a min speed value would be bett...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
I see what you mean now with 2710 value. My suspicion is that this would be a bit of hack, and only really relevant for bench testing with no load on the motor. It would be quite easy however to make this parameter exposed and saved to EEPROM. Would be good to see if this is the case where others ha...

What do you mean by value 2710?
I do not see that kind of behaviour, how ever as said before with no load on them it's very hard to make sense of what's going on.
Regarding the map select it could be a wiring or a noise problem causing the inputs to float, are you using 12v for the map select?

Still no torque request being generated by the pedal, until that happens inverter is not going to be enable and 0x287 B6 will stay 0x00
ADC1 is should be high and is used to calculate.
It might be worth commenting out the comparison check as I mentioned above it's something that can be tuned later.

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
POT's can be hard to get a reading from, hall sensor is much more reliable. Maybe I should expose the ratio as a parameter in the setup menu? For calibration press 6 with foot off the pedal (or slightly pressed if you want a dead zone) and then press 7 with throttle fully pressed down. For now the o...
