Re: Tesla LDU Controller Stops Working with Aggressive Throttle
"Fweak" also concerns me. Shouldn't it be lower with an empty battery than with a full one? So be dependent on the current battery voltage? It's not terribly important, but if you want that, openinverter will do it automatically, just set udcnom to your nominal battery voltage before you ...

Re: Tesla LDU Controller Stops Working with Aggressive Throttle
Is there a correlation between ocurlim and actual current amount? Also, what do I have to do to detune. Looking for of course a good balance. I did change the trip setting to 1 after you mentioned it. thx ocurlim is the peak current that is allowed to flow through the inverter and motor. If this is...

Re: Jumpy start, but smooth accel on SDU in VW T2
For what it's worth, I believe everyone suffers with "jumpy" start on the SDU. It's one of the primary reasons I created my fork, and I believe a major reason why ZeroEV stopped using this drive unit. I spend weeks tuning the SDU so you might want to try these parameters to see how it comp...

Re: Tesla LDU Controller Stops Working with Aggressive Throttle
You have got tripmode set to 0 (AllOff) Set this to 1 (Keep DC switch closed) immediately or you WILL destroy your inverter. Next, the fact that this is happening means you are likely exceeding your current limit. You need to actually consider what current you are comfortable with, and either increa...

Re: Open inverter LDU. Low acceleration
Want to thank everyone in the forum for your help! I took my first drive recently and when giving full acceleration the car didn't drive any faster. I maintained appropriately 5-10mph It's as if the car is in limp mode. What parameters should I be looking for? Any suggestions? Check the encoder con...

Re: Inverter Firmware 5.27.R
Thanks! Prblm solved! Changed to sin file. Testrun showed very smooth in low acceleration but cutoff probably overcurrent not letting me go hard on throttle. Changed back to 5.20 Any parameter changes needed to be able to run 5.27? The immediate problem here is that your fweak value is much too low...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?
I tested this circuit today. The MOSFET failed after a few charging cycles  Definitely needs protection between D2 and Q1. I use the same MOSFET circuit for 12V GPIO inputs too. Those also failed. They require the same protection. These are my updated (hopefully much safer) designs for 12V gen...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?
Thanks, KiCad and its possibilities are really amazing. I gave a try, added the rotation attributes, and now the footprints have the correct orientation in the JLCPCB viewer. Great :-) I just rotate the components in the JLC GUI when I place the order, but I guess it's better to do it correctly in ...

Re: Test if SDU inverter is good or not? [SOLVED]
Is there any way to check if an SDU inverter is good without breaking the 3-phase wire VOID seal? Is there some way to check it via the logic board connector only? Unfortunately not. As far as I know, the only way to test is at the 3-phase void seal. Worse still, in my experience, many bad units do...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?
Don't do that. The STM32 you're using may be rated for some current injection on GPIO pins, but this is never an acceptable design decision. You're right to want to protect the MOSFET. You can do this with a resistor and a TVS between D2 and Q1. I tested this circuit today. The MOSFET failed after ...

Re: Harvested SDU Board
I don't like waste, but there's no way I'd consider reusing any of those parts after a fire like that. As for the STM32, it's hard to guess whether the chip was heat damaged internally, or whether it failed because of a short circuit on one of its outputs somewhere else on the board. Put it in the b...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?
I needed to replace the 8MHz XTAL of the STM32 by a 12MHz, because the 8MHz is not available at JLCPCB. I use this "basic" crystal on my CAN STM32 boards with 12pf caps. https://jlcpcb.com/partdetail/YangxingTech-X322516MLB4SI/C13738 Don't worry too much about the extended part costs, jus...

Re: Isabellenhütte IVT-S shunt Connections
Brilliant thanks. I Think the 2 pin plug is supposed to be shorted internally but I noticed today it is recommended they are both connected anyway so will crimp another pin and use it to link both. It is shorted internally, but it's best to wire both wires (especially as it's very small wire and yo...

Re: Isabellenhütte IVT-S shunt Connections
This looks correct to me. To reiterate: * One side of the shunt should connect directly to B- * The other side of the shunt should connect to the negative contactor * The first small 2-pin input should *both* connect to B+ via a small fuse (it's fine that it's behind your contactor, as long as that ...

Re: selling converted car
I'm in very much the same position. I finished my VX220 build and have enjoyed driving it, but I really need the space back. It's excellent mechanically but could use some cosmetic work (which never really interested me). I have no intention of providing any warranty when I sell it, and consequently...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?
The "direct" connection of the CP line to the gate implies the risk of killing the gate by a high voltage on the CP. For the moment, I just use 100k series resistor directly from the CP to a port pin of the STM32. Yes, this is also ugly, but I guess the protection diodes at the STM ports ...

BTW: How important are housings? Assuming, the electronics is in the cabin, where it is dry and clean, how much is the need for a water-proof housing? Yes, it is the clara software. I tried to have two variants, one for the F303 nucleo board and one for the F103 which is used on my board, in one single git repository. Only the F103 variant is tested lately. The F303 should not be far away, it worked before re-arrangement of the folder structure. ...

I can't get the transmission to change to Low gear under any combination of these. Anyone have any thoughts??
