Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS

Could be a library mis match or something Exactly! I found in code were a lot of int declaration for EEPROM items. I had to change them to uint8_t on smaller values and uint16_t for larger values like tpshighOffset. Now values were holding after reset albeit like 339 instead of 340... I also raised...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS

There is another issue i noticed. Whenever i removed power from VCU it wouldnt load EEPROM values! This means that if i reset VCU somehow i may get stuck with throttle way out of calibration. Is there a solution for that maybe? Or would i need to install EEPROM chip on my teensy board? I dont have e...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS

Well i closed up my front box and relay box. I added my watt meter sensor and went for a ride.... Several rides into this showed results... Inverter at start pulled 115A for acceleration. I consider this rather slow in comparison with my ACIM motor before. That was on NORMAL mode. When motor develop...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV heater

I was thinking of feeding the air that goes into the cabin over the coolant heater. Physics says air is not a good medium to transpost heat. You would do better if you would isolate the heater from outside and put a heat exchanger into a battery compartment. Possibly a heater matrix from a small ca...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV heater

Have you been able to use any of the heat coming from the heater casing? I was wondering about routing the air feed for the heater fan past the heater as there is so much wasted heat coming from it. What do you mean by that? Use the heat for heating the battery by air? You could use the lower tubes...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV heater

To my amazement I managed to do it right first time and it just works. Nicely done. I am glad it worked right away. having a pot to adjust the temperature seems like a good idea, even if it is only until I figure out what the ideal temperature is. Yes i had to test the end temperature a couple of t...

I had the same problem on Mazda a long time ago. A lump of mud formed at the back of my charging connector. In wet weather this tripped many EVSE protection before i figured it out.

Re: [DRIVING] VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf [FINISHED]

I like the water / refrigerant direction because you can cool or heat the battery as needed. That is well and good for single box. It may as well be integrated into the box itself with small 700W Volt battery coolant heater... But i have 2 separete battery boxes and possibility for a third... this ...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS

When it it's well setup i get quite close to one pedal driving. Yes, yes! That is my goal. I still have to connect my wattmeter device - display above the left dial. This will show me how much regen is there at all. Does the code take into account brake pedal as well? In my experience brake pedal r...

Re: [DRIVING] VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf [FINISHED]

Going the air cooled, flowing through the inside of the battery box route, are you worried about humidity or corrosive spray getting into the battery box? Exactly! It is a tradeoff. On one hand you get simple airflow to cool the batteries as they drive and charge. Former is more effective so it is ...

Re: [DRIVING] VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf [FINISHED]

I also consider actively venting the box if temperatures go too high. I am thinking of fitting a blower fan to each box in a suction way. I.e. air is sucked via the length of the box and expelled at some hole in the sides. For that i will have to make several holes on one side of the box for the ai...

Yes tell me more about this. You said you were having issues on a road trip. That was on a drive to croatia. I was very excited as i managed to charge on chademo at 43kW!!! but after 20min Jaguar cell became toasty as of 45deg. I took control of charging and opened both boxes to outside air. It hel...

Yes I still have to find the usable kWh I have now 7 modules in Mazda for 320V. That ammounts to 47kWh. If i would add another module which i am thinking of i would get those vaunted 55kWh and 300km range ;)!!! But i dont know how to mount Tesla charger... there is not a lot of space in Mazda left....

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV heater

I went through the code quickly and eliminated anything connected with pot. I used Heater_pin which is the same pin as A0 analog, only digital side... i think it is D14 Then i removed reading of desired temperature as i find it unneccesary. I removed cconnected conditional as well. The way this code...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV heater

was a little surprised at how hot the case of the heater got and couldn't help thinking it is a pity to loose all that heat but I suspect I'm too late trying to capture it as I would need to have custom designed some kind of enclosure with fans. Like i said heater wants to go all the way to 85deg i...

I like this pump very much: VW P/N 7L0965561D https://www.kmotorshop.com/en/article-detail/view/216907/additional-water-pump-hof7500074-hoffer-117256-20074-22skv012 It is very convenient as its output has small angle relative to input. This makes it easier to fit into linear space. But as for reliab...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV heater

I only had a 4k7 pot connected between ground and A0 so not sure if that is suitable as I think the heat requested was around 85C and it wouldn't drop below that. I think I could see a 10k pot in a previous photo from Jamie so I'll dig one out and give it a go. Does this sound correct? I dont fuss ...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS

Well the you could be getting de-ratted as there is no specific values for max discharge. There should not be a condition where the motor 'sticks' i suspect something do with the mounting being in reverse but the code is assuming forward. YAY! I think i solved the first part of my torque blocking.....

ok now... i managed to go for a roll :). Motor can pull the car just fine. However starting torque is a bit lame. But the most problematic is constant torque block. Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS

This should work then inverting the final torque request in inverterComms() A question there... what would happen if i would set minTorque = 0; To a negative value? minTorque = -10; Would that give a reasonable regen in case of released pedal up to the very low RPM? Or is this nor used? How do you ...
