Re: Guide to battery pack sizing?

i.e. in leaf gen 1 modules, i need 13s to get 200V, each string would then be 0.488*13= 6.34kWh Each module is nominally 7.6V and you'll need 26 in series for 198V. Each module is nominally 500Wh and 26 in series will give you 13kWh at 198V. If you construct a battery with 52 modules (26 series x 2...

Re: Shipping to Great Britain not possible

I'm hoping sending to GB in the future shouldn't be more difficult than ROW (rest of world). Assuming it's the same process as Ireland then you'll need to declare each export online (we use AIS) and keep records to prove you've exported the goods outside the EU. The export will qualify for 0% VAT i...

I am now using rectified mains Just a reminder for anyone reading this thread, you should always use an isolating transformer and current limit to ensure this remains safe. These are lethal voltages and currents and should only be used if you fully understand the risks. See also; https://openinvert...

Re: Shipping to Great Britain not possible

have you started to ship to the UK yet? You'll have to wait until the treaty has been ratified and VAT/Duty rates confirmed. EU suppliers will also need to register for an EORI and prepare export and RoO documentation which may be onerous for small traders like Open Inverter and EVBMW. Some UK impo...

Re: Maximum achievable charging power with an inverter

ex: - a working Gen2 Tesla 10kW charger + control hardware + shipping = 1k$, - a Chevy Volt 3.3kW OEM Lear charger = 350$, - a LEAF/Kia Soul 6.6kW OEM charger = 700$, - etc. If you hunt around 20kW for 500 USD with two Tesla PCS should be achievable; https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9...

Re: Contactors Question

Then a charging contactor which goes on the positive cable coming from the charger to the positive battery connector for charging (this one is called the pre-charge contactor right?) We don't recommend installing a separate contactor for charging but rather install the charger/dcdc/inverter/other l...

around about £1000 I believe, haven't contacted them yet though. Seems pretty good as its about the same as a Tesla Gen2 + Controller + normal 12v DC-DC We've purchased several Tesla Model 3/Y PCS for ~150 euro :) https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=171 Over the last decade we'v...

Re: Sunday Times - Underground army preaches to the converters

I'm just a bit sad to see how openinverter is never mentioned. Our projects use open and closed source from many different vendors and it isn't always possible to discuss them in mainstream interviews. That said, we do actively promote open inverter during our courses, events, and through social me...

Re: Tesla Model 3 Rear Drive Unit Hacking

But, this new board won't fit into the existing inverters, chargers, DC/DC, etc so now you have to figure out where to put it. The proposal is to have a single external VCU not replace the internal board. Mop up the external SAM3X8E VCU's (Leaf, GS450H, CHAdeMO, etc) into a single design that uses ...

Great!

We have access to a Ioniq and will build a T cable so we can monitor the signals without damaging the car. We hope to have some CAN logs in a couple of weeks 8-)
