Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
Question 2: I have made a really good pedal map setup for me i think. The only thing i am bothered with is fast torque transition when i am already rolling, maybe between 250rpm and 500rpm. There is a weird shaking there but then it becomes smooth as i go through the rpm. What would that be? Are th...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
Hmm, no. The only thing I know about the encoder is that it's a superseal connector that goes into the far side of the motor. ...... Nothing in the spec sheet identifies the encoder other than its pinout. https://www.dynapar.com/technology/encoder_basics/quadrature_encoder/ Ok, then your best bet w...

Re: Tesla PCS DC/DC turns off during driving
Hi. I've now experienced this twice in a short time. The DC/DC turns off during driving, resulting in no charging of 12V battery and me loosing steering servo and heating in cabin. Any ideas what can cause this? Unfortunately I don't have any loggs or error messages. The DC/DC output seems to be ar...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
Thank you for explanation. Question 1: Would tpsbins[21] mean pedal position from 0 to 3% and then 3% to 5%? Is your intention in the lower part of the throttle to be really accurate with pedal position? So if i would change your pedal map to... const int tpsbins[21] = {0, 5, 10, 12, 14, 20, 24, 28,...

Count... one physical location? And then... do what with that number? Is that my numimp? LED will blink when encode moves beyont the next step. Here i used 60 slot single channel optical encoder and it worked with ACIM really fine. https://mazdamx3ev.wordpress.com/2015/07/03/enkoder-senzor/ Yes &qu...

Re: How to not kill a tesla drive unit
Hi Everyone, I have spent extensive time developing 3 phase inverters. ..... I will also comment IGBTs are usually quite slow. 1uS dead time is likely too short or just on the edge of what is ok. My first inverter using Fuji IGBT moduals and good gate drivers needed 2uS dead time for instance. -Arl...

@aot93; I tried to adapt regen more to single throttle way and i didnt quite managed to get to where i wanted. I would ask for explanation on how regen uses the matrix please... To first explain my target; I modified the matrix for map3 to target value of regen at the beginning of matrix AND i chang...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
What you are doing is done with IPM motor with resolver. If i understand you have ACIM and dual channel encoder. Four wires channel A, B and +12v, gnd. Inside the brain this is converted to quad encoder position but you need to input how many pulses does single channel make. You count this by puttin...

Re: Parallel Onboard Charging?
Building an EMW-style boost charger is an interesting option, however... I will read up on it. Thanks for the idea and links! There is a lot of that online. My design was for the buck charger as i had to downplay 600Vdc from rectified 3phase mains. i also got more kW from bucking 600V than i could ...

Re: Parallel Onboard Charging?
Naturally, the next question is: does it scale? Could you do 3, 4, or even 6 motors in parallel? I recently had a long conversation with my neighbor. He wants to build a large mobile platform for Burning Man to crawl across the playa, potentially with up to six motors. His idea is to use a full Tes...

Re: Parallel Onboard Charging?
If I had a 100kWh Tesla battery pack powering two Openinverter Tesla SDUs, could I simultaneously use both units' onboard 5kW charging capability to charge the battery at ~10kW? Did you mean AC charge via the motors? I am not sure the circuit would see this any different than AC charging in paralel...

This is where I am currently with the chill plates. holes for bolting in four modules, plus some extra tabs on the end with a couple tapped holes along the side to aid with securing. Currently with a lid, perhaps it could be secured by a ton of counter sunk screws to the main plate and sealed with ...

Re: Bosch Accelerator Pedal pinout?
Yes thanks I found that one also, but I dont measure resistance like that. Only 22kOhm over 2 pins, nothing on the rest. It really has a PCB with an IC in it, so it probably only works when powering the right pins with 5v Some of those pedals have partial resistance inside their casing, but the res...

7. What happens if we lose 12v to these contactors while driving? Obviously our motor loses power, but does anything get dangerous or break? I can chime in here. Up and around this forum i constantly warn on trusting the odd transistor with keeping your dc contactor latched. Lets talk about consequ...

The CV shafts and alignment are probably the most intimidating thing to me personally Hm... true...true. You can ensure allignment by using a threaded rod or two and bubble level. Keep the car on the ground under its weight. Threaded rods go through wheel boss into the diff side. That is to ensure ...
