Re: Insuring a conversion in the UK
Well I'm feeling very lucky today..
Just checked on the .gov website and the mini is now showing as 0cc and ELECTRICTY as fuel type.
Hopefully get the V5 in the post soon.
Keen to see if it's still classed as historic on the V5.

Footman James updated the mini to Electric over the phone with no questions or extra cost.
Hopefully the DVLA will be as easy.

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander rear motor invertor
Have you read the other Mitsubishi threads on here? there is a lot of very good info already there. The Wiki is also a good place to look. As for CAN control you will need something to send the CAN messages to the inverter, 12V and HV that's about it How complex that something is depends on what you...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander rear axle
Big moment last night, the mini moved for the first time :D https://youtu.be/JnUx1pAPPKg Of course with a proper load on the motor I find new problems. My big one being I can't seem to get much power from the motor before it shuts down. Seems to be more than a few amps and I get a hard cut. CAN bus ...

I'll send it to you in a PM, it's still changing day by day so not ready wider distribution.
All my code is for Teensy, so not sure how much use it is for you on Due.

Re: Mitsubishi outlander charger and DC:DC
Thanks arber. I'm reading all the temps and switch pump and fan on and off based on them. At the moment I have the pump coming on when charger temp >30deg I was looking for the normal in use (charging) temperature and max limit before I shut it down. I'd also be interested to know if they have an ov...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander rear axle
RPM is available from the rear inverter on 0x289 bytes 2 & 3
Then I just hard cut the torque to 0
Code: Select all
motorRPM = (msg.buf[2] * 256 + msg.buf[3] - 20000)
Code: Select all
if (motorRPM < -1500)
{
torqueRequest = 0;
}

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander rear axle
Stock inverter with can control. It's hard to tell until I get it on the road, but I did some tests with some high values for regen and it worked as expected. I've had it spin in reverse at 10k RPM so there is no speed control in the inverter that I can see. It seems to me it's a fairly dumb system ...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander rear axle
Yep the mini installation is mine, the motor is effectively upside down, it spins quite happily like this, no nasty noises from the reduction gear / diff. Not sure how it will affect cooling etc in the longer term, but it seems happy. Finished making the shafts last night so the real drive tests wil...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander rear axle
Good to see another motor getting mounted up.
The part number at least for 2018my on is 3717A029
I've not had much luck sourcing aftermarket ones.
If you are in the UK I can give you number of the specialist breaker I use, he will likely have some at a good price.

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter
For me it was bad connection between inverter and motor ( Resolver) I metered every pin on the inverter to check against the values listed in the service manual (see attached) Note that RSDN should be pulled low. Once that was sorted it all worked very easy, no particular sequence. 2021-05-20 23_58_...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter
Thanks, it's a start - getting all the batteries in is going to be fun.. For the pot to can it's just straight AD conversion I'm using a teensy which has hardware ADC's, I use the ADC lib to simplify using them and it takes care of averaging readings etc.. I map this to my max torque - I have limite...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter
Are this native motor/inverter combo from the same car or will this work with motors and inverters not from the same outlander car do you think? Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter
I got a 13.8Kw outlander pack putting out 308v hooked it all up to the inverter, and tried sending data to 0x285, 0x286, 0x287 and 0x371 I'm using values I found here reard driving log except for 0x287 which are read in from a pot. I have tried the RSDN line pulled high and low but still no rotation...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter
Hi Wright, There are a few of us doing the same. I already have most parts fitted to my mini, just waiting on a battery to start testing it all (maybe this weekend..) I'm also just starting on my control setup, I'm using teensy 4.1 based board and hope to be able to control all the OEM parts with CA...

Re: Mitshubishi Outlander battery pack
Any more news on these batteries and contactors?
I've been offered a 13,8Kw pack for £1900 which seems good value for the newer LEV46 cells.
I would use them in my mini conversion.

Re: Mitsubishi outlander charger and DC:DC
First post here, wanted to say thanks for all the useful info shared. I'm currently converting a classic mini using outlander rear motor, inverter and charger. Last night I installed the charger which just fits under a mini front seat. I had to modify the 12V output stud so I could get the charger c...
