I"m so on board with this!
Once you've got connectors somewhat confidently placed, i'd love to contribute an enclosure design.

very nice! i'd also be interested in performance "butt meter" metrics when you get things properly hooked up. The entire transaxle looks like a neat package. I'd be a little concerned about the extremely short Pass side axle. Also, if you're interested, I designed a bracket that eliminates...

Re: Project VW Cadd-E, Leaf/Volt/Mercedes + Mk1 VW
yeah, the Merc hybrid modules are ok but certainly not the most volumetrically efficient @ ≈7 kWh.
The BMW hybrid modules (and i3 i believe) with their native BMS boards is a great way to go for around 12-15kWh. They are compatible with Simp BMS which makes it an easy plug and play with BMS.

BTW i still have 8x of these mercedes modules in my garage (≈7kWh). As well as just picked up 6x BMW i3 modules (≈12kWh) that were a good deal. For future projects i guess!

Were the batteries you bought from accident Vehicules? Anyway of controlling if there are faulty cells? Sorry for asking, re-reading your posts and found the answers. I can get my hands on a few faulty batteries. Don't know why they are faulty, so will get an icharger or something to check cell vol...

What kind of 3d printer are you using to print those housings? ;) :P the cheap ole original Ender 3. Filament is ASA, my favorite and perfect for functional parts. Well it fits nicely on the battery. Now just need to finish soldering on up and test it on the first module. PXL_20220415_012716482.jpg

Re: Newb Asks: Should the battery pack be rubber mounted?
Surely a battery doesn't CREATE vibrations, but could be affected by them. would only be road inputs on an EV. Veh OEMs don't use any isolation for battery mounting so that likely means you don't need to either. They've been designed to withstand the vehicle's life of road input accelerations. Prett...

Re: Chevy Volt Gen 2 charger 24281923
So i came across a new and cheap Chevy Volt charge inlet assembly on ebay and decided to grab it, if only for the charger side connector. Interestingly it also includes the J1772 pilot and proximity connections. I'm now wondering if this charger will handle EVSE connectivity on it's own instead of r...

Re: Project VW Cadd-E, Leaf/Volt/Mercedes + Mk1 VW
Nice, bought a gen1 volt bms to do the same thing. never found a good price for Tesla slave boards, how much did you get the full set for? So, i knew there would be a bunch of loose model S/X boards out there because of so many people using aftermarket BMSs +adapter boards for stationary, or other,...

Re: Project VW Cadd-E, Leaf/Volt/Mercedes + Mk1 VW
changing my BMS strategy. Was intending on using the Nissan Leaf BMS, but have since decided to go the Simp BMS + Tesla route. You may wonder how, if I'm not using Tesla modules. Well i just bought a bunch of used Model S/X BMS boards off ebay and am going to wire them to my cells. Combining 2 board...

Re: Which model s board with simp bms?
why not use SIMP BMS compatible OEM battery modules?
I either can't afford or can't fit the OE options. The batteries im using are LiPo so no relevant difference in voltage curve. Initially I wont be using thermistors, this would just be for balancing and charger control.

Which model s board with simp bms?
I plan to run a SIMP BMS with Tesla module boards on a different 96s battery system. Is there a preferred version of the Tesla boards or do they all work he same? I like the batteries I already have, so please don't suggest that I buy simp bms compatible batteries. I can't afford or fit them. PXL_20...

I have also been collecting these on eBay for cheap. Have 3 chargers and 2 DCDC right now. They're just so compact!
I designed a bracket for them to be mounted together. LMK if anyone is interested.

Re: Project VW Cadd-E, Leaf/Volt/Mercedes + Mk1 VW
after a bunch of test wiring, then more code review and trouble-shooting, I have a spinning motor! Precharge works great, Acc pedal calibrated. Next up will be further refinement of the low voltage wiring, and then on to getting my Volt DC-DC and Charger working. Also wiring the Leaf BMS. https://yo...

I read several pages ago that there was a wiki section for this leaf VCU, followed the link and it seems it's been replaced by the zombieverter - which is great but i'd think we still need a place to document our hardware and lessons learned, no?

probably a dumb question, but will regen work on any openinverter based VCU with this firmware update, including Damien's discontinued Leaf VCU?
