Re: Prius Gen 2 inverter logic board
Thanks again MattsAwesomeStuff. That clears up alot for me. I'm trying to understand as much as possible before commiting to iether a Damien Board or Johannes Rev 2/3. I see there's more than just 'plug and play' to this now.

Re: Prius Gen 2 inverter logic board
Is this why the Gen 2 inverter is a less viable /hackable option? The Gen 3 seems less complicated with everything Damien and Johannes have done lately - fully populated boards with all the bells and whistles... I'll ask anyway, is there no way to 'reverse engineer' the Gen 3 board to suite Gen 2? 🔨...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
Thanks for the questions MattsAwesomeStuff, it's blurry for me too. Probably because I am not from an electrical backround, so 'simple mans' langauge from you is helping me understand.

Re: French regulations - retrofit now legal!
Sorry, I meant after coughing up 30 000€ for compliance, and having it done by a registered company, the 'rest' is pretty much the same. Will modify wiki to clear that up. I am planning on a build with gen 2 inverter and transaxle and presenting it for compliance through my company I am setting up. ...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
So just to make sure I understand, Prius has Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, thus NOT induction. So need FOC and current sensors to run the Gen 2 inverter and transaxle?

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
I will go wiki hunting instead of asking the obvious question... (give a man a fish 🐠) I wrote 95% of the wiki and all of this current sensor stuff is over my head and not something I'd gotten to in my build yet. You won't find your answer there, or, far as I know, written down anywhere else. This ...

I feel the same - way out of my depth with current sensor stuff. Glad there are some professors of electronics to work on them.

Re: French regulations - retrofit now legal!
First Update of French regulations is now in wiki. In short, practically identicle to German rules, WITH around 30000€ homologation testing AND no one off 'personal builds' allowed. Only registered and authorised companies to carry out conversions.

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
Sorry if this is a stupid question....( Been trying to find the info this afternoon), To control the Gen 2 inverter, there is either the non populated Damien board (at present) , and order parts according to BOM, or Rev 3 Inverter kit from Johannes (populated), with wifi included? Starting to get a...

Please don't give up. All that work done to get Gen 2 operating (like the Gen 3) is so near. And you are almost 'done'.

French regulations - retrofit now legal!
As of Friday 03 April, conversions from thermic to electric is now legal! There are a few companies setting up to convert various types of Véhicules, with the cheapest for the moment around 11000€. Some big hurdles to jump over though, but I will translate and put a summary in the discussion. Check ...

Re: Transaxle Modifications
Bummer, it's a Gen 2 - not a simple 'plug and play'. However, this helps with moving R&D forward to have a nice logic board. Seems lots of people working on minor problems to make Damiens' work around/Johannes Brain board even better, so hopfully I can add my 2 cents on practical side. Do you kn...

You guys are really on to it. Well done considering the context. I am trying to put together a similar project, so will follow closely and hope I can eventually assist towards D.I.Y Manual for Prius Transaxle conversions. For the moment in France, batteries cannot be second hand, hence a huge barrie...

Re: Transaxle Modifications
Hi there Johnspark, seems you are making progress, how ever slow it might feel. I'm about to purchase a Gen 2 Prius for the same type of project. Would be great to know about your axle made between MG1 and MG2. From what I see, it is safe to say locking MG1 and MG2 will not cause overspin of MG1? Pr...
