Re: 2008 Nissan Quest Van with Tesla SDU. [FINISHED]
Re info from PM: You have fixed the motor case grounding which is good but it seems power supply to the inverter is not stable. How much current does your contactor consume? 5.32.R gives the BrakeCheck status because cruisemode != Off so it wants to see the brake pedal once at startup. After that yo...

Re: [DRIVING] VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf [FINISHED]
With the above established I want to return to the original questions and the (partly premature) conclusions. So we start with a perfectly working car and a terminal class that remained largely unchanged for years. After fixing a completely unrelated problem with the battery the VCU starts to do spu...

Re: Watchdog Reset through terminal echo
Alright, more changes. Now I no longer managed to lockup the terminal or entire processor. The USART has an overrun flag and apparently while that is active it no longer accepts data. So now I a) disable the RX DMA while running a command - that stops the watchdog reset b) reset the resulting overru...

Re: Watchdog Reset through terminal echo
I have added an echo 0|1 command now and also allow turning off echo in the constructor. So now for the car project I turn it off by default. Upcoming versions of the ESP firmware can turn it off via the command https://github.com/jsphuebner/libopeninv/commit/df951cc1b7fae2dd483429b873bcbbe838746db2...

Watchdog Reset through terminal DOS
Today I found 90% of the cause of an issue that has been plaguing me for months now. I had random reboots of my VCU mid drive. Read up on the whole story here: https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=66887&hilit=reset#p66887 Lately I had the VCU restart during charging but there was one i...

Re: 2008 Nissan Quest Van with Tesla SDU. [FINISHED]
Congratulations :) (to finishing of course) I don't think the Tesla inverter took damage as it has reverse polarity protection, both the logic board and the power board. EDIT (after watching the video): Do you have a solid ground connection to the inverter? The contactors will pull a surge from grou...

Re: Charging one battery from another as an alternative to parallel packs.
If you're savvy it's easy to rig this up by extracting the buck/boost stage from a Prius Gen2 inverter. As an invariant the additional pack must always have a higher voltage than the installed pack so it can sit at the boost side of the converter. That said for the rare use case it might be easier t...

Re: QCA7000 Foccci+Clara User thread
No communication this time, undo last change... ppvariant is just relevant for calculating cable capacity for type 2 cables. Can't be the culprit. Have you checked your port contactors that they are not stuck? Iso resistance of port? Does CP measure fine seen from the port? Test also with ActuatorTe...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?
Yes exactly. PE should be solidly connected to the chassis not far away from the charge port so that would serve as a ground reference for the signals
I guess the design is still young enough for shuffling pins

Re: Doing useful things with the Prius Gen2 buck/boost converter
Via the A/C inverter it will just boost
Via MG1 it will just buck. You need an additional relay to connect the battery to the buck side while charging. At least then you don't need the extra current sensor because it will use the MG1 ones

Re: Doing useful things with the Prius Gen2 buck/boost converter
Good news, I also bought one of those 2nd hand from someone who went a different way. So I have both hardwares. Is it version 1.3? Early versions don't have the user PWM connection. Stupid question, how does it know whether it's in charge mode, and is charge mode also what happens during regen? Bec...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?
The order has gone through now, I'm excited! On another note I wanted your input on this. Here is the current pinout: focci_pinout.jpg The two contactor outputs are on different plugs. The LEDs and button are not on the plug that is more charge port oriented but on the car oriented one. Now I though...

Re: Doing useful things with the Prius Gen2 buck/boost converter
Also, does any of what you described require using new pins or telling the buck/boost what to do? Any code or software? Or does it just happen by being connected? Sorry, just found this. With the SMT version of the Prius controller this is integrated. In drive mode the "user PWM" pin runs...

Yes indeed. It's 28€ just for the QCA chip and like 20€ for the remaining board :) Order went wrong. Went through till payment, then suddenly jumped to order history. Cart and history empty :( Couldn't start over because the QCAs are now stuck in the zombie order. Meh, they'll figure it out. I have ...
