Enova 90kW motor and Damiens Combi V8 built inverter for sale
Hi Forum. I am looking to sell my Enova 90kW motor and fully built and working Damien (and Johannes) designed Combi V8 controlled inverter. Power electronics are from the well known Enova Inverter with sturdy IGBT and large caps. I have run the setup in my car previous to buying an SDU and now the t...

Re: Smart Roadster
With the Openinverter control system on the SDU you can adjust Boost, Fweak and slipstart, all these parameters (and more) allow the power to be adjusted so you can govern the performance. If you just want to be mega quick up to say 60mph and then power tails off it can be done. Not sure how the Out...

Re: Smart Roadster
I looked at the ibooster but it wont fit in the space under the car. EV being instant torque so acceleration is good from standstill so that decreases 0-60 time against ICE. 6-7 secs should be no problem, good acceleration to 70mph, once you have the motor in the car and are able to tweak the parame...

Re: Smart Roadster
With respect to locking rears I can set the regen parameter so that just touching the brake pedal means instant lock up !! Next job is to fit a brake pressure transducer so that governs how much regen to allow based on pedal pressure and motor speed. Will be interesting to see what your 0-60 time wi...

Re: Smart Roadster
Hi Pete9008. 100kW would be fun, I run up to 75kW which demands serious concentration :-) I have 18kWh of Volvo V60 batteries (330v), range 65miles or 40miles if I am feeling very naughty. Brake servo uses a 12v vac pump and a reservoir, a bit noisy, pump kicks in every second pedal press and have f...

Hi Pete9008. Not sure if I am missing something here but what motor are you contemplating ? I run a Tesla SDU fitted to a bespoke subframe in my 450, all depends how courageous you are

Re: SDU parameter tuning - major failure - can't select drive gear
Suggestion open for comments please... In either Tripmode case if the precharge relay/contactor was switched on (not via SDU) along with the negative contactor and remained so until a manual power off was done, i.e. the precharge is not controlled by the SDU output. Then the addition of a high volta...

Re: SDU parameter tuning - major failure - can't select drive gear
For reference what does Tripmode 2 actually do in case of an overcurrent event, does it switch on the precharge and then drop out the main contactor or is the precharge permanently on at all times ?

Re: SDU parameter tuning - major failure - can't select drive gear
Tripmode 1 is the best idea as Catphish suggests.
As an added path to clamp spikes I use suitably voltage rated paralleled TVS in series with a high wattage 25R resistor across the inverter HV input cables as close to the inverter as possible.

Re: SDU parameter tuning - major failure - can't select drive gear
Hi deadsled. Your ocurlim and iacmax are too high I would say, set to 1000 for now with the following just to see if you can get rolling to prove if the inverter is ok. Check on the plot what your potmin is showing, if its over the 400 value you set it wont be happy to start. Boost 1500 Fweak 300 ud...

Re: Tuning the small drive unit with charts
Hi Charlie. I wonder if reducing throtramprpm to maybe 4000 would improve 0-60 a little without straining driveshafts at the start.

Re: Tuning the small drive unit with charts
Hi Charlie. Getting closer to the 4 second 0-60
As you have udcnom set at 300. Would be interesting to see what boost and fweak values become as voltage sags under hard acceleration.
I did try lowering fslipmin to 1.0, that made the motor very lumpy ! Thought I had blown a phase !!

Re: Drive units with failed inverters
I have a fully built and tested Combi V8 inverter which uses the Enova power stage, would that work with the Tesla motor as a test ?
Not sure if the Tesla encoder would be compatible without some interface possibly ?

Worth a look against the version you are using ?

Re: Tuning the small drive unit with charts
Hi Charlie. Have you looked at the code which gives tmphs value ? I wonder if its different than mine ?
I am trying to get the code from github as a learning exercise next.
Will do the tmphs graph later this eve when traffic is light.

Hi Charlie. Sorry, I dont know the frequency on the version I have, factory default from Johannes I guess :-) Only relevant data I can see is.. pwmfunc 0 pwmgain 100 pwmofs 0 I dont suppose your rapid temp rise could be due to coolant surging and starving the pump when accelerating ? Does the temp t...

Re: Tuning the small drive unit with charts
Hi Charlie. Try a different version of the software, it would be a quick and easy test and may show up a difference. I am wondering why your temp is rising so much, even on an a fast run around with lots of stop starts and fast acceleration the highest I see for Inverter is 55 - 60 C, this drops ver...

Re: Tuning the small drive unit with charts
Been doing some testing with Fweak and Boost to see what can be achieved by raising Fweak (from 210Hz to 270Hz, thats a jump from 45 MPH to 60 MPH) and counteracting off the line performance by raising Boost from 4000 to 6000. Result being I can maintain performance off the line and torque is good. ...

Hi Charlie. It has been mentioned on the forum that mapping Fweak to RPM could be a way of having the best of all worlds, what do you think ?
