Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller

There are a bunch of different components in the Gen2 (and onward). There's also a 3phase inverter for the 3ph air conditioning motor too. But apparently that's on the motor itself and just power leads head over to the A/C motor. Prius Controller Disassembly -- Timestamp to the end of the Gen1 disas...

I think so. Damien hijacked it as a battery charger already IIRC.

No worries of corroded contacts or UV degraded brittle plastic. I get what you mean, but... This connector is inside a sealed box, never exposed to sunlight or moisture. Everything else in the case looks like it's brand new. I have more confidence in Toyota fabrication than my own crimping and asse...

Just went to check, it's the same plug as on the Nissan Leaf LBC. Part number housing: 1318747-1, Pins: 1123343-1 Digikey even has those in stock. $5. What's do the "pins" numbers mean? [Edited to answer: The plastic plug is one part, but it does not come with any metal connectors. You ha...

Re: 1970 Opel GT - Forklift ACIM - Project Log & Inverter Build

Tidbits of progress: - Arber333 helped me clarify what type of Schottky diode I need. Also, on Damien's Prius Gen2 DC board, he has a similar reverse-polarity protection diode that's rated 40V and 5A. I couldn't find anything at Digikey at either 4a or 5a, so I went with a 3a, which Arber said shoul...

Re: Charger for 500V+ battery system?

Second, less important question; if I add kWh's to my battery system by increasing the Voltage as opposed to increasing Ah's will this actually give me more range or just higher performance? There is no free lunch. The way that you shuffle the battery does not add or remove the amount of battery. Y...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller

Quick question, more applicable to everyone than on my personal build thread... Does anyone know what the connector(s?) inside the Gen2 inverter is(are)? I'm presuming I'm going to have to hook that up to Damien's board. Other than chopping off the plug and splicing wire-to-wire, it'd be nice to be ...

1) Digikey.ca have current stock of19,496 TO92 BC547 transistors, Part # BC547B-APMSCT-ND. Why do you say they are obsolete? No more obsolete than the STM32F103C8T6 used on a Blue Pill. Err, my mistake. The BOM lists that the BF959 is obsolete, and this is the replacement for it. The one you linked...

More dumb beginner questions. Current roadblocks: 1 - Can't figure out what parts to buy to populate the Prius board. I just lack the context of the circuit to know what to order from some of the items in the BOM, as listed above. Also, what connectors I would need to interface with the controller. ...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller

AwesomeMat, the bloke that removed the cables had to open the V2 to get the HV transaxle cables out of it, and they also forgot to put the 6 bolts back. Yeah, I figured that out shortly after. Also today I purchased something from within my own province, a few hours north. It gave me a 3 week estimated delivery time. Let's see which gets here first. Should be neck and neck.

AFAIK, Damien's board there is used for development, i.e., it's not a replacement logic board. I'm not sure if I understand this correctly. 1970 Opel GT - Forklift ACIM - Project Log & Inverter Build

Figured I should create my own thread here rather than butting in on the actual controller threads. Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller

I have found a 2009 Prius (Gen 2) inverter for $150. But, the shop has already pulled it and gotten rid of the vehicle, so, no cabling or wiring of any sort apparently.

How significant of an impediment is that going to be for me?
