Re: Prius Gen 3 Inverter Logic Board Support Thread
So, it runs smooth but only in reverse.Only in MGR reverse. If only schaft starts spin forward, and accelerator is released, motor starts to jump uncontrolled. It happens only if I release accelerator. What could it be? having the same problems im having, i still dont know what is causing the probl...

Re: Leaf Gen 1 Inverter Board
I need to double check again at the VCU board instead of at the HVJB but pretty sure I was taking measurements on the + side of the contactors. WIll be going at it again tomorrow to check the functions on the board. Hard to imagine this is not wired correctly given you drove the car but this is how...

Fabulous article in SpeedHunters magazine 8-) Converted: The Tesla-Powered BMW 8 Series ( here ) When I asked Damien if there was any advice he would give to others who are also interested in going electric, he said this: “This is all stuff that you can do in your shed or at home as safely as wiring...

In more postive news, I got to weight the car :D . Not bad considering. 58/42 weight distribution and corner weights are within 5kg of each other. A little nose heavy but good for a FWD car I guess correct me if I am wrong. Overall weight is down about 20kg, that includes 10kg dummy ballast in the ...

Re: Leaf Gen 1 Inverter Board
When I put the meter across the 12v trigger wires in the HVJB for precharge, neg and main, I can see the pch and neg have 12v triggering them but 0.6v on the Main+ showing the command hasn't been initiated on the VCU. Where precisely are you measuring these control signals? The contactor drivers in...

One issue I've been a little stuck on is final drive, I understand Damien is using a 2.88:1 diff on the Superyacht, but I think the simplest solutions for my build only go as high as 3:09:1 I'm not sure if this will present a large issue I may have to get creative. Damien drove the SuperYacht (&quo...

Re: Skoda Octavia Estate 2001
I'll have to see how to wrangle funds around that if that is what I have to do and look at the motor options. You really need to decide what your budget is for the conversion. Without that figure this is all guess work. Tell us the maximum you can spend on parts and we'll tell you what you can get ...

Re: Suzuki Cappuccino
would there be any reason to go for a Gen2 or Gen3 Prius inverter over that for my application? We've just had 10 novices on the NEI course using the Prius Gen 3 inverter and tuning a Gen 3 transaxle. It's early days but I think we will soon have a large number of people using the Gen 3 inverter wi...

Re: Suzuki Cappuccino
Option 3 - Ditch both the inverter and motor and switch to something else. At the moment, a Yaris/Prius inverter driving a MGR is the most appealing. This would obviously mean getting rid of a lot of the work that I've already done but I'd rather do that than keep banging my head against a wall wit...

no real pulling torque. For heavier towing I think you absolutely need gears AFAIK we have no evidence for these statements. Thanks for the information. I'd look seriously at a Toyota Prius transaxle. While the Leaf motor is another option it's a lot more expensive and I'd rather spend the money on batteriesMaker_of_Things wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 5:59 pm My Octavia is a front wheel drive, 5 speed manual, 110bhp.

Can you give us some idea of your max budget?

Some CHAdeMO rapid chargers do not support low voltage operation (see Damien's test videos from a few years ago). We don't know how widespread this problem is so you will be on the 'bleeding edge' for sure

A good time to remind people that it took a morning to install a GS450H 'transmission' into a BMW 7 series and with another day's effort you could wire up a battery, install some cooling and put the car on a dyno. If you want definitive measurements please do the work and publish the results in the ...
