Re: Prius Gen2 Boost Converter - how to use? [SOLVED]
The boost converter has 6(?) pins CSDN - shutdown. When 12V (high) both IGBTs are off, isolating battery from HV bus. I've got a scribble saying it can be left unconnected if not needed, but not sure about that. GCNV - Converter ground. Connect to system (LV/12V) ground VH - Analogue DC bus voltage ...

Re: Project RX8 , Prius gen2, Lexus transaxle to rwd
Good point. Customer satisfaction (little/no delay between pressing the button and driving away) is perhaps more important than longevity (outside warranty periods, anyway). In my bench setup, I'm closing the main contactor when HVbus reaches 95%, timeout (0.75sec) or overvoltage results in emergenc...

Re: Project RX8 , Prius gen2, Lexus transaxle to rwd
I get about .5sec with a prius inverter, DC/DC etc etc
Surge current into the caps is the concern, but reactance becomes significant quite early on. I figure if BMW chose 15ohms, good enough for me

Re: Project RX8 , Prius gen2, Lexus transaxle to rwd
My BMW 'safety' box precharge also measures 15ohms, I've something out of a prius that measures 25ohms. Somewhere in that range should be about right.

Ahhh, so you're going with 1 brake pedal for each wheel? (You're missing a master cylinder)

I like your reservoir. The tapered sides should allow brake fluid to flow at higher speeds, improving braking response

Re: Bench setup for stm32-sine development
Yeah, viscous fan or electrical load would be the best bet for running loads. A motor/generator could emulate a flywheel quite easily too, but does need another inverter.

I would encourage you to consider that as a 'workaround' at best, that function is supposed to protect against a number of possible problems. There's either a bug in the code, or a problem with your setup.

Re: Bench setup for stm32-sine development
Running the flywheel off a couple of pulleys would reduce vibration on the motor shaft (may need to deal with side load from the belt) and would allow you to 'gear up' the flywheel to get away with a smaller mass. I'm not sure if a small flyheel turning fast is better or worse than a large flywheel ...

Re: IPM Motor Simulation and FOC Software
Bit tricky this. When above fmax i's going to be well into field weakening (above base freq) so any hard backoff or shutdown will cause very strong regen as the motor voltage rises uncontrollably. Johannes' ramping of id and iq would probably be a safer approach. Certainly be a good rev limiter :-)

Re: GS450h Cuts Out on Heavy Throttle Application
So it looks like something's pulling potnom to zero, and the inverter is reacting to that? Any errors stored? Checked the connections on your throttle sensor? A loose +5V connection, for example, could have the pot output drop to zero intermittently. How's your throttle pot signal getting to Zombiev...

Re: IPM Motor Simulation and FOC Software
I'm not sure what the current speed limiter actually does, but...
Existing speed limit + 50Hz = hard backoff of currents? (won't help during regen)
Existing speed limit + 100Hz = fault?

You're right of course, documentation can only be a good thing. I guess I'm just worried about Joe Bloggs who lands on a random page in the wiki from Google and stuffs their 50p multimeter into a 360V battery and loses their hands and burns their house down. Or someone who manages to follow the inst...

Re: IPM Motor Simulation and FOC Software
The simulator won't help with setting offsets (but will simulate the effects of a bad offset)
Setting the resolver offset really is a fundamental step, and has to be done right (as you've discovered!), the controller can really do very little to control a motor if it isn't where it thinks it is.

Re: Project demystification - make openinverter.org more accessible
That's a good point. openinverter started as a scratch built inverter and control board, then moved on to reusing OEM inverters with the Open control board, and has more recently started on controlling OEM inverters over CAN (not replacing any internal parts). I think the first 'scratch built invert...

Is there anything we can do without CAN logs? I'm happy to get hold of one of these (I'm sure I'll use it somewhere) and can throw CAN at it (assuming the CRC etc is the same as the VW chargers?)
