Re: Parameter locking/hiding [SOLVED]

oh I was wondering why there was no change ;)
Do you think the "Articles" link could be places in the blue bar next to "Members"?
The other 3 links are actually redundant.

Cool :) Are you going to modify the firmware for DC motor control paralleling the 3 phases?

Re: Parameter locking/hiding [SOLVED]

I installed an article extension as you might see. The integration is not really good, it created a white and lightgrey menu bar instead of using the existing one. Anyone knowledgeable how to fix this?
Can someone try to edit the Motor Parameter article?

Re: Parameter locking/hiding [SOLVED]

Apparently it's possible to link mediawiki to the phpbb user table (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:PHPBB/Users_Integration). So then we could have a wiki for all sorts of things including a page on motor setup. I believe you can allow arbitrary downloads on mediawiki that can be linked to ...

Re: Inverter powered battery heating

So charging the packs below 0C does not destroy them. But I need a charger that derates the current. Are there guidelines for the de-rating, or a curve to follow? Yes. I can't find that paper. It might have been in German. I'll keep looking. I roughly remember that 1/8C was considered unharmful eve...

Re: VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf [FINISHED]

I did a 1-year test run with LFP batteries. Basically I charged and discharged two packs in turn, measured voltage curves, internal resistance curves, and balancing behavior. What I can say for sure is that balancing is an extremely overrated topic and thus 1A (or more) balancing currents are over s...

Re: VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf [FINISHED]

I'm not worried about the lifters, I used them on the heavier Sharan with no signs of weakness. And they have a TÜV seal. Like that dam in Brazil :o Now I started testing the new BMS slave boards and actually mounted it to the battery today. 4 channels 1mV resolution from 3.6-4V 10mV resolution belo...

Re: The parameter documentation project

Basically the higher the dead time, the lower the achievable AC output voltage. The 3µs vs. 1µs is 2µs on both edges, so 4µs per cycle difference. If total cycle length 113µs (8.8kHz) you loose 3.5% output voltage. Just for informative purposes here is an excerpt from the data sheet: This bit-field ...

Re: Outdated printf.c? [SOLVED]

Now I tested double buffered DMA writes. Basically a buffer is filled up until a "\n" is hit or the buffer is full. Then it is dispatched to DMA for sending. Meanwhile the application can fill up the other buffer. It makes sending more continuous as you can see on a screen shot which seems...

Re: Outdated printf.c? [SOLVED]

I've modified the custom printf.c to use DMA for outputting data. Should create a better flow especially on a loaded CPU. That said e.g. the Json output is generated by multiple printf calls per line, so you might still see some jitter. EDIT: does not work on REV1 hardware, as USART3 shares the DMA ...

Re: Field Weakening for synchronous motors

Yes, interesting. Without field weakening 1080rpm@60V. That is 6500rpm@360V. Actually quite a usable speed.
The extra current for field weakening is really high, I'd rather shift gear :)

Inverter Firmware v4.12.R

After some experiments with a Swedish user who actually runs a Nissan Leaf motor at high voltage I have updated the velocity calculation in resolver and sin/cos mode. It now waits for the resolver signal to become stable and it resets the calculated frequency to 0 if there is very little change for ...

Re: Parameter locking/hiding [SOLVED]

Actually I think thats a good idea. I'm not quite sure if the firmware is the right place for it as there are quite many motor/inverter combos out there. I'd rather add that info to the parameter files. So where it now says { "boost":20 } it would say { "boost":{"value"...

Wow, you've actually added it to the web interface! Is that running locally or on esp8266?

EDIT: never mind, the picture gives it away. So could you run it on the esp8266 with your SWD thingy?

Re: ICE Breaker - 1967 VW Splitscreen Bus with Tesla Drivetrain/Battery

Clean Conversion² (as in clean code x no emission) haha.

I might have missed it in the historical thread but are you using that Type 2 DC fast charge port? Where did you get the socket from?

I consider using Type 2 instead of Chademo in the Touran because it seems to be more common in Germany.

So the point is charging at low temperatures is not generally "REALLY BAD". I can try digging out a paper where they charged cells at different temperatures and currents and the eventually took them apart for inspection. Only high currents (C-rates) AND cold temperatures are detrimental be...

Re: Inverter powered battery heating

Yes thanks for the clarification. I made a schematic how you would connect the battery. Like in charge mode phase 2 is used for switching. Software-wise you have to put the inverter in opmode 6. Ampnom controls the the strength of the heating pulses, so to say. Below 20% nothing happens, then it cur...
