Re: Zombie-GS450h Synchronous Serial & harness overkill?
Ah, sorry I only just saw this thread. Part of my job is the specification of systems and cables in applications such as this, I can add a bit of feedback. The drain wire connections don't need to be half/full length, they should be kept short. For differential pairs they are terminated at one end o...

Re: GS450H MG1 and MG2 Torque Ratio and oddity in inverter protocol [SOLVED]
You'd just remove the *5/4 ratio form the MG1 torque, and I guess flip it's direction of rotation as well. Since it would be a 1:1 ratio, rather than a -1.25:1

Here is some data I captured a few years back. All files generated in Sigrok. I have no more information on them and have forgotten all about this project now.

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
On my build the capacitors in the Lexus inverter are not discharging and even after 24 hours they are HOLDING HV VOLTAGE almost to the level of the battery pack i.e. 400 Volts. If I take a voltage reading, with the HV battery completly disconnected, at the terminals of the inverter I have just shor...

Re: Help me choose a cheap(er?) inverter for a L110
The equivalent year Camry inverters are the same as the GS450h inverters, but have different electrical connectors (not really an issue).

Conversion kit - GS450h Transmission with Inverter, Oil pump, Controller, Cooling setup, etc
Hi all, I've got a GS450h transmission, it's got the oil pump. I made a custom front plate for it which locks the input shaft using the factory GS flywheel, and mounts the inverter. I have an inverter unit (converter was removed). Oil pump controller is included, along with connector for it. Park / ...

Yuasa LEV40-8 batteries (Mitsubishi Outlander)
Hi all, I've got 20x of the Yuasa LEV40-8 batteries for sale. Each is ~32v, 40Ah. 10 are blue, and 10 are green. They came from two vehicles, the blue ones had 20,000 miles, the green ones had 15,000 miles. Included is the BMS slave module, these communicate over CAN, I've got code for Arduino (Teen...

Re: Cooling ideas?
Inverter shuts down at 125C, ideally you'd want to keep it below 80C.
Shouldn't be too hard to keep both of these close to ambient with a decent electric pump and a car radiator. I used a Pierberg electric pump (from BMW) which is designed for a car engine so flows plenty.

Re: GS450H Solenoids SL1 SL2
I hear you, I do that as well (no oil pump), but I have to get pressure up initially from stop, and I can do that with the oil pump or free-wheeling MG1. How are you building up initial oil pressure? Just goosing MG2 until pressure comes up? And when you say, "no solenoids connected," are...

Re: GS450H Solenoids SL1 SL2
Do you mean you're not pumping oil at all (input shaft locked, and no electric pump)? Or are you pumping oil some other way? I assumed it was essential to have some oil flow! Nah, I haven't needed it for short tests runs up and down the driveway. I set the pump up but am struggling with fluid level...

PB are sensors, either open or closed. SP is PWM control of fluid pressure, I believe.

Re: GS450H Solenoids SL1 SL2
May have answered my own question testing last night. This setting appears to be high gear. Good thing -- because the racket those solenoids make when I set them HIGH is not good.... It's well established that leaving all solenoids off is high ratio. The questions that remain in my mind are as foll...

Did anyone ever get the GS450H DC/DC converter working? I’ve just removed mine from the HV battery assembly but I don’t have any idea how it’s controlled. Try this thread: https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=538 Still needs work. I had it work for a while, until the IPM shorted ...

Re: GS450H new firmware with web interface
On like 263, a full 100 bytes of mth_data are *always* read from the port and overwritten in the array, so there's no reason to zero it. The monitor_inverter function exits early if there isn't 100 bytes of data available. No processing is done unless 100 bytes is received and the checksum is good....

Re: GS450H new firmware with web interface
Might be wise to clear mth_data on line 263
for (int i = 0; i < 100; i++)mth_data = 0;
At the very least I'd clear mth_data[1] (cycle times and all that) such that a valid packet in a run state can set it back to 1.

Re: GS450H new firmware with web interface
Is line 135 valid? if((mg1_speed>MAX_SPEED)||(-mg1_speed>MAX_SPEED)) torque=0; I didn't think - could be used in this way, shouldn't it read: if((mg1_speed>MAX_SPEED)||(mg1_speed*-1>MAX_SPEED)) torque=0; Happy to be wrong! Edit: For line 180, this is configuring USART0 on the related pins, otherwise...

The dowel pins can get caught on corrosion and give the impression that there is a fastener holding the two together.

Re: Lexus GS450h RPM vs MPH Speedometer
MG2 max speed is 10000rpm, divide by 1.9 which is the high gear internal ratio gives 5263rpm out the back of the transmission. Divide by 3.58 gives 1470rpm at the wheels at top speed. The Scimitar came with various tyre options, a common one was the 185 HR 14 tyre which has a diameter of 650mm, ther...

Re: GS450H Discussion
So many questions in here. It should be easy to make an adapter plate and run any electric oil pump. Yes you need the pump, the transmission is oil cooled and oil lubricated. There is an oil> water exchanger in the left side of the unit. In the Lexus, I believe the oil cooler is inside the radiator ...
