Good info! I knew the rear of the GS450h didn't slide, so that's the two piece is the splined slip tube I mentioned. I hadn't given any thought about the rear bearing design possibly not liking the slip tube load.

This tank definitely has a solid back axle.

I've got a local driveline shop I plan on utilizing. Basically hand them a transmission flange and say 1310 rear yoke u-joint X inches (that's right!) long with a splined slip tube in it. May put a carrier bearing step in there if the transmission is not slid far enough back.

Definitely an option I've been keeping an eye on for my '67 T-bird. Given the vehicle weight I'd like to put upwards 400HP in it, but realize it likely will cruise really nice with 200HP and some steep'ish rear gearing.
