Re: Kia Niro BMS

What happends if you start the cell balancing at a higher voltage level and then charge the pack a bit? Do you still get the same error?
Asking cause the FMEA2 indicated something with slave supply voltage and the internal charge pump of the slaves.

Re: Kia Niro BMS

Seem like STATUS register bit ALRTFMEA2 (0x02) is set for all slaves exept no 10?? I don't know why this is set but the problem is that the specific FMEA2 register needs cleering once set. Clearing just STATUS register is not enough. And that is not handled in my code. Cell #4 in slave #10 is the lo...

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97

I have confirmed communication with a Prius inverter so my HW is ok. Not sure what my next step should be other then to test and spin the motor. But might be good to use current limited supply instead of 400Vdc battery if something goes bad... Will have to up my SW so it communicates with the car as...

I've created a shield for my DUE to be able to test communicating with a Toyota logic board using Clocked Serial Interface Protocol. IMG_2485.jpg Sourced suitable connectors and cables as well. I do have the resolver part of the Toyota connector as well. IMG_2486.jpg I have created a rough SW based ...

Dear bexander I tested BMS2_7_3.ino only with 6pcs slaves. I haven´t no reply from slaves. Could you please write me if I need all 12pcs for test or not. I don´t know if old slaves are damaged or MAX17841B is wrong. Biggest chance is the software needs adaptation for amount of slaves and or slave d...

There are no external power pins, they are powered from the battery cells.

The equipment used should not matter and yes the SN must be correct to change other settings.

A run 43,7V as default, in case com is lost.

0x05004804 followed by 0x05019C00 after 100ms. Also tried 0x05009C00, with no success. Sending 0x05004804 is working nice, though, so I don't suspect communication issues. Aha, you are trying to change the default voltage, correct? Using 0x05009C00 have always worked for me. Try without the 100ms d...

The datasheet is for at EV Powercharger and not the Flatpack 2 HE. I have not heard of any locked configuration for the Flatpack.

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97

I was a bit concerned about resolver position with a random motor/inverter setup and also my inverter is heavily modified on the inside to only supply voltage to motor side and using that same voltage to supply the DC/DC but after watching this video posted by Damien I'm thinking that this might act...

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97

What would also be interesting is trying to drive the motor with an OEM Toyota control board. There's a high chance that it will be compatible with the MGR, and that it will be smooth at high rpm. However, conclusive tests haven't been made with this combo. I've only seen some questionable test ben...

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97

The issue can probably be fixed with SW but I don't know how either. These Toyota motors love high voltage so they become tricky to handle at high rpm if you don't have that high voltage. I have considered rewinding the motor for higher speed/lower torque but I'm not shure I can do it successfully. ...

Personally, I don't worry about it :D The Prius inverter will protect itself, can't remember if it cuts out or derates, but I've never managed to get there with my setup. I use the Yaris inverter with the same behaviour and I agree with Bigpie. ok - so normal what might a sensible maximum value ale...

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97

Been driving almost 4000km now and it works well except when the battery voltage drops down below 360V. At lower voltages it starts to oscillate at high speed with low torque requested, i.e. at cruise. This isn't to bad but I don't like it so I want to rectifiy it. On idea is to raise the battery vo...

Re: My Car tried to Kill me today (1973 Beetle +SDU Conversion), Potential Cruise Control Bug ?

To my knowledge many OEM cars have a lower speed limit that is needed to be exceeded before you can activate cruise control and if the car drops in speed under this limit the cruise control drops out completely. Don't know if this is included in the openinverter cruise control. If not, it would add ...

Re: Charger for single cell cycling before battery pack build

Final design. Screenshot_2023-06-29_13-33-11.png A copy of uhi22 design. I just rearranged the sens resistor so no need for differential ADC. Simplest and cheapest solution I could find. Voltage division on cell voltages is so I can use the internal 1,1V reference in the 328p, for best accuracy when...

Latest design, charge them all in parallel via "Cell1" connection (includes cell current fuse) and extrenal RC-charger. Screenshot_2023-06-25_19-07-00.png Basically a copy of uhi22 concept with the exception of a voltage reference as current regulator. Should result in very precise current...

Re: Charger for single cell cycling before battery pack build

That's a simple approach but I don't like the idea of connecting multiple cells in parallel that might have different voltages, would need to measure cell voltages before but maybe not to bad in my case as most of the cells should be well balanced. Do have potential to save a lot of time. It don't k...

Re: Charger for single cell cycling before battery pack build

Good point! Actually, removing the hysteresis will not only make it CC/CV on discharge but also remove the need of any extra op-amp control. As soon as the discharge is terminated from the 328p the cell voltage will rise and when switching to charge mode it should not interfere. Doing it this way sh...

Re: Charger for single cell cycling before battery pack build

I prefer to do the regulating bit (CV part) in hardware. Less risk of unintended behaviour that way. Will also try to add a temp switch as an extra protection layer. I haven't tested the hysteresis part yet but relized that the voltage will increase in the cell as soon as the current draw is removed...
