Re: GS450H Discussion
So many questions in here. It should be easy to make an adapter plate and run any electric oil pump. Yes you need the pump, the transmission is oil cooled and oil lubricated. There is an oil> water exchanger in the left side of the unit. In the Lexus, I believe the oil cooler is inside the radiator...

Anyone broken off the breather fitting on top of bell housing on their 450h trans? If so, what did you do? Can it be replaced?

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
Yes, Bin, IN2, IN1 are 12v inputs.. I'm wondering about changing PB1-3 inputs so that we can use 12v instead of 5v (in). If I'm reading the schematic correctly, R12-14 are 1k resistors on the input line for PB1-3 (well, pins 9-11 on A connector). Got it. How about grabbing a level shifter to bring ...

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
Can someone verify my thought process and statements below, please? 1. PB1-3 inputs aren't doing anything in the code. They appear to be just informational (maybe Toyota uses the info to control SL,SP for gear shifting). 2. They use two 1k resistors to bring 5v down to ~3.3v. 3. BrakeIn, IN1, IN2 i...

Re: GS450H Solenoids SL1 SL2
My bench GS450H is now installed in a vehicle, so this question will be on hold until that vehicle has its wheels and batteries installed. Once that's done, I will test the following: * Using 0/0 as high ratio * Using 1/1 as low ratio * Switching between high and low ratio, both directly, and via t...

Re: GS450H Solenoids SL1 SL2
Is it possible the hybrid system disengages both brakes when running the output shaft purely from engine power?
Seems that would only work if system applies resistance torque on MG1 so all (most?) engine torque can pass from blue to green then out the back. I'd assume that in full ...

Re: GS450H Discussion
Anybody got any workarounds for this oil pump? Aux pump with adapter plate? And honest question: if I do not lock up input shaft and command MG1 to turn to mimic the input rotation of the ICE, and run only MG2 with proper solenoids engaged to move the car, can I forego the electric pump? Beginning ...

Re: GS450H Discussion
Ok, so got oil pump running and she's noisy. It may be because I discovered it's resting slightly on the car's frame rail. Need to fix that. But question: do these pumps sound silky smooth, or are they a little rough?

Re: GM / Chevrolet Volt Gen2 DC-DC converter
Lately i hear strange schratching noise from Gen2 DCDC when i go under the car. That is with the car off! I think it is complaining the load is not high enough... Maybe i will nave to implement 30% duty PWM signal from DUE control when car is off to keep DCDC truly off. It appears I can move forwar...

Re: GM / Chevrolet Volt Gen2 DC-DC converter
Do we need to pre-charge this unit? Or can I just put a 400v/80a relay on the main supply and just flip it when I turn on everything else? Did not check that (yet). But it's easy to check; look at the PCB and see if there is a current-limiting device between the HV-connector and the HV-capacitors. ...

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
Looks like I have a dead inverter - I thought I saw somewhere on here that a guy bought a couple, repaired a part in the middle that would go bad, and then have a good unit again. I can't seem to find that post or what part that is. I'm getting no communication from the VCU and the inverter Is your...

Video of first spin! Because I've never done this before, I got some things wrong in the video: 1. Resolvers are made with Cat 8, not 6. I do use Cat 5 for a few things. No cat 6 was harmed to make this Frankenharness. 2. That's the oil pump controller mounted on the inner fender well, not the motor...

What type of pump? I see all kinds of different ones listed for BMW and a wide range of prices. What about this one: I bought two of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124015184843 Only here they are much cheaper. Around 10 to 20 USD. Sipmle reliable 12V pumps. Anybody DIY their shielded pairs? Damien talks about foil *and* copper wire shielding. Would it be fine for me to just use Cat 8 (cat 7? cat 6?) network cable for all the HF runs from Inverter to VCU/Trans? Or is it just as easy to make these? I'm a noob on HF comms, and I'm thinking each pair needs...
