I don't know about the 986 but in the 987 that part of the frunk structure is incredibly strong, not just one sheet of metal as you would expect if it was just somewhere to put stuff.

No, i don't really have a thread for my conversion.
And yes, the rack has to move 3cm backwards.
This is because otherwise, the steering motor would interfere with the metal structure of the frunk.
This movement of the rack is only possible, when the fuel tank is removed.

I have installed the steering rack from a 981/991 in my 987 EV conversion. However i couldn't get the power assist to work.
What is the bare minimum of messages i need to send just to get power assist. I probably do not need speed sensitive assist.
