Re: GS450H Discussion
On the subject, as far the shift dial on the transmission goes, which position corresponds to what? Is far right (when looking at the dial) D? Far left D? What position should I have it in when bench testing? Well all cars must have the layout PRNDL (due to regulation) so I'd imagine far forward is...

Re: GS450H Discussion
There's no way to put it into park without the mechanical linkage AFAIK, so you'd need an actuator to do that. The VCU board should protect against sending power when in park with the code: else if(gear==PARK) {ThrotVal = 0;} //no torque in park or neutral This is in the get_torque() function, whic...

Re: E46 Touring Project Engine Delete
Update time: The engine and gearbox have now been deleted IMG_0033.jpg Replaced the oil pump bearings and ended up having to drill out the Philips screws which had seized up, will replace them with the Allen bolts used in oil pumps on later cars. - Fuel tank removal next, then onto test fitting the ...

Re: GS450H Discussion
How are people putting the gearbox into park gear without using a mechanical linkage. Is there a possibility of using some pawl actuator to push and pull the lever into and out of park when needs be Also, does the VCU board protect against sending power to the gearbox if its in park? (Ie what happen...

Re: GS450H Discussion
What benefit does it bring engaging park in both the GS450H gearbox and using my physical Parking brake, vs just the physical parking brake and leaving the GS450H in neutral

Re: GS450H Discussion
So if I plan to use this
https://zero-ev.co.uk/product/gear-sele ... nversions/
Then I’ll need an actuator to engage park, unless I keep the gearbox in neutral and use physical park brake

Contactors Question
Quick question about contactors. My current understanding is that you have 1 positive contactor on the main positive cable coming out of the battery, before your DC-DC, or Motor Controller (GS450H Inverter in my case) Then a Negative contactor, with the same idea, on the main negative that comes fro...

http://www.ovartech.com/?product=6-6kw-obc2kw-dc-dc-liquid-cooled Found this on diyelectriccars and looks pretty enticing, anyone heard of them before or have any experience buying from them? Re: Nissan Leaf Powered E46 Touring
1F8 is only on xDrive cars. There's a lot of data missing, but that will get you what is needed for an EV conversion. Re: 0x610 is why I said not to remove the cluster. :) And yes, it's from ABS (likely more specifically the Steering Angle Sensor). It's for verifying the calibration from the sensor...

E46 Touring Project Engine Delete
Recently picked up a 2003 E46 Touring 330D to convert. 0D97543C-9361-4638-80C6-D9CDBF66C8EB.jpeg It’s been a family daily driver for the last 240k miles so some touching up is needed, mainly the classic E46 rusty front arches, and a good clean. Still got a rear arch replacement to weld in. Also fitt...

Alex: Suppose I’m happy to do one-each deal if we can get them for cheaper, think I’ll put it in a high mileage leaf gen 1 and have a sub £5k 150mi range run about.

Re: E46 Touring with GS450H Gearbox Motor
At 230V, because all the chargers are rated at 120A Max, all I’ll get is 25 odd kW (not particularly good)
Can I just use a buck converter from 400V @ 125A down to 200ish V @ 250ish A
Would need to figure out some way to control that into the battery

Re: E46 Touring with GS450H Gearbox Motor
Ah ok so the worst outcome of me running it on 200v is reduced power output? Reduced maximum rpm/speed. Mostly (we do have field weakening, remember the 650v legends?). 200V is about half of what you want though -- it'll be less efficient as well as less powerful. Understandable but I don’t think t...
