Re: Tesla Model 3 Charger

Great! Can’t wait to get my board, Do we know the part numbers of any of the connectors for it? To me it looks to have the same outside connectors set as Leaf VCU.. Was more taking for the PCS itself, as I have mine but where do I plug in 12v, 4 HV connections from charging port and main HV DC in/o...

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread

Anyone have any idea why my MG2 position, (when checking through arduino serial monitor with the easy to use VCU software) is randomly picking its position, causing it not to work, MG1 is fine and knows it’s position, but MG2 position is bouncing between 0 and 3500ish every time I check

Fitted a linear actuator to engage/disengage park under the car, works a treat and hooked it up to a DPDT switch, will fit a push button for it eventually 51F36411-B4DB-4539-A67E-840A0A1D8E48.jpeg It’s made by Actuonix, if anyone is interested I can send the link to the one I bought, believe it’s ip...

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread

Perhaps I've overlooked it, but is there a complete wiring diagram from The VCU to the connectors on the different components? I've figured some of it out, but still missing where the trans temp, MG1 and 2 temp, oil pump relay and PWM go. The inverter.png file is not legible on my computer, so I th...

Re: E46 Touring Project Engine Delete

Fitted my Power steering pump now, wasn’t where I wanted it to go as it didn’t quite fit but this isn’t a permanent solution, within a year or so it will be replaced with an EPS column compatible with Openpilot which I also plan on retrofitting B15ADB49-6317-4EBD-BE42-82E45936AFDF.jpeg Hoses made by...

Thanks, thought I’d have to permanently remove the rear washer tank but it just about fitted with it, still to add CCS DC pins but will do that closer to when there’s a CCS controller out

Re: E46 Touring Project Engine Delete

Almost got her running recently but one of my resolver connectors wasn’t properly wired and I broke it trying to re-wire it. So in the mean time I have fitted the model 3 CCS charging port where the original fuel filler was using some aluminium brackets. 3841815B-47C5-46AB-9334-978E78BA48BA.jpeg In ...

Re: Dual battery box, does rear need contactor

any HV battery needs at least 1 contractor and fuse to keep it isolated. So yes. run all the negative contractors off the same line. So my rear battery contactor (which won’t be on negative as it’s just one cable in and one cable out of the box) is run from the same line as my negative contactor

Dual battery box, does rear need contactor

In my build I’ll be having 2 battery boxes, does the rear one need its own contactor, if so, when is it closed, I imagine before pre charge, so when the negative contactor closes, so does the rear battery box contactor, connecting the full pack together, then it starts pre charge etc

Re: E46 Touring Project Engine Delete

I'm interested in your battery layout... in the engine bay are you basically fitting a stack of 6 and a stack of 5 transverse? I'm planning a wagon project and had been thinking an i3 battery pack but am now rethinking the tesla modules! Nearly but not quite as simple, fortunately the chassis rails...

OEM Tesla Model S BMS and slaves

Have the original BMS from my Tesla 75D pack up for grabs and the 14 original BMS slave boards from the modules, one of which is a 5s board from the 5s module, also the original tesla shunt if there’s anyone interested in that

CAD looks great - cardboard aided design anyone?
Hoping to get at least 210mi of motorway range, and with some efficiency mods I’ll do later on, 230+Mi

And most certainly cardboard aided design, only the best for me

Spent some time doing professional CAD - think I can only fit 3 modules under the boot at the back, but fortunately 11 fit under the bonnet so I get a full 75kWh, weight distribution will be a bit upset but shouldn’t be too bad 6B282A42-2A25-4B2A-A541-5A91F3B50834.jpeg Also took apart the back of th...

An ‘easy’ one to do could be a Lexus CT200H, if your looking for a not particularly Long range car as you said just for commuting, already has all hardware for EV drivetrain installed, drop in an EVBMW VCU and put some batteries where the engine, fuel tank and original battery were and off you go. How do I go about adding this to my VCU? Ideally I’d like to be able to use my Rev counter an an ammeter, so is it easier to go though using the VCU or using something else to trick the instrument cluster

Re: E46 Touring Project Engine Delete

Technically it's the rear axle carrier panel, but most people call it the subframe. It tends to crack due to the shear stresses of the drivetrain. My old 330i was starting to crack, but it was in poor condition. Here is a good article on the topic: https://cmpautoengineering.com/pages/part-1-will-m...

Re: E46 Touring Project Engine Delete

I am also converting a E46 Touring. You'll need to emulate the right CAN messages from the ECU to make the instrument cluster happy. Luckily Damien's new Zombieverter has the code for that: https://github.com/damienmaguire/Stm32-vcu/blob/master/src/Can_E46.cpp I'm not quite that far, but I'll share...

Re: E46 Touring Project Engine Delete

Following as I also have an E46 Touring. Are you going to do any subframe reinforcement? Reinforcing for what? I’ll drop my diff and get it spray blasted and powder coated sometime soon as it’s not in the best of states and while it’s out I’ll take care of the classic e46 subframe rust if that’s wh...
