Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter

Zapatero has described the LV connections to the inverter. If you read this thread all the way through you will find the pin out description for the plug into the inverter and the various CAN messages required to enable the inverter and make a torque command.

Re: Newb Asks: Should the battery pack be rubber mounted?

Most of the donor vehicles are monocoque/unibody construction. The only instance I would be concerned about the battery case would be if fitting to a ladder rail chassis. The extra flexibility particularly when twisting might stress the battery case which it was not designed for. In that case I migh...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter

Hello All, Good to see some more people having luck with these components. I'm still having a bit of trouble actually getting the inverter activating and motor turning despite being pretty confident we're sending all the right messages. I feel like it's a sequencing issue on start-up, I think I can...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter

Hi All, Haven't posted for a while due to frustration at not getting my motor to turn, taking rests from working on it for a think etc. But, finally, the day arrived - had to learn how to use timers in the Arduino ... Anyhow, the motor starts to turn at nearly zero voltage (no more than 20VAC) - I'm...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter

Hi All, I have also received all the inverter CAN messages. I have also attempted to transmit the 286/286/287/371 CAN messages but with no rotation of the motor. I need to purchase a clamp meter to see if there is any current in the phases. Also, my HV is only 36V. Is this too low to run the motor (...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander rear axle

If you rotate the motor with your hand, that would be same as regen right? So my guess is that it will show as negative torque to ask for regen? I know nothing but it sound like that to me :P consider my option and please correct me if I am wrong, everybody wins :) Hi JaniK, Tried that. Powered up ...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter

Thanks. I am aware of this. It would be elegant if it could all be controlled via CAN but may not be possible without a lot of reverse engineering on an actual Outlander PHEV.

Re: Upcycling a Suzuki Samurai

Hey Mark, Nice to hear you're considering a Samurai too, have you got the vehicle? I've absolutely no doubt that you could beat the performance of the ICE, if mine is anything to go by. I would even go as far as to wager I could possibly extend the range of this thing too by converting it. Only get...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter

I have a motor, inverter, charger and battery from an outlander installed in a Honda civic. The charger and motor only need 4 can commands between them in total to work. I have shared the information with a couple of people on here already. But I will be in a position to report actually driving a c...

Re: Upcycling a Suzuki Samurai

Hi hugow93, I also intend to convert a Suzuki Samurai to EV. I'm awaiting the arrival of a Outlander PHEV Rear Controller/Inverter to see if I can use it to control a rear motor from the same vehicle. I also intend to retain the gear and transfer boxes but lose the clutch. I've read somewhere that a...
