Lowest voltages possible with SDU

We've just built a VW T2 with the SDU and open inverter and i'm impressed by the open inverter, although it's a bit more complicated than using the T2C, it's very good so hats off to the community, awesome stuff.

But one thing i'm curious about is the lowest voltages it can handle? what have people ...

CAN mapping - Derate motor / brake / reverse light output through VCU

Hi,

We're looking to set up our VCU with the Tesla SDU, we have the openinverter board installed and spinning now but our next challenge is simply getting the functions of Brake / reverse light output signals via CAN to our VCU and also VCU communication to the motor to derate if the BMS has faults ...

Re: SDU Inverter manual mode with canlite trouble shoot [SOLVED]

On every step please attach the result of http://192.168.4.1/cmd?cmd=json as a text file

On your first post status was BrakeCheck which means you have to hit the brake pedal once to be able to start. Or disable cruisecontrol with cruisemode=Off

Amazing stuff, we've now got the motor spinning ...

Re: SDU Inverter manual mode with canlite trouble shoot [SOLVED]

Valid question. Those things you mentioned can already be viewed in Off-mode.

For a spin up test you can also set udcsw=0 and udcmin=0 and start the inverter with manualstart=On. Then test with the throttle

Ok, i've set udcsw / udcmin = 0 and manualstart = on and i can see POT moving correctly ...

The start command is not yet implemented in the latest release. It will be in the next one.
Thank you but how do i test it on the bench? Connect throttle / brake / direction etc?

SDU Inverter manual mode with canlite trouble shoot [SOLVED]

Hi there, i have issue with manual mode start.

I get "Start command failed"

I've got my canlite board connected with the Tesla SDU with our open inverter board installed,

I've set the UDC paramters both to 0 and set the variables as mentioned on the wiki "enter like 1Hz for „Fslipspnt“ and some ...

Re: CAN protocol for the Open inverter Tesla SDU

There is no "protocol" you can map various parameters/spot values to the CAN bus. https://openinverter.org/wiki/CAN_communication

What BMS are you using? What "team" are you talking about a ECU/VCU?

Thank you - We usually use thunderstruck but for this build we're working with ECO classics to ...

CAN protocol for the Open inverter Tesla SDU

Hi,

Having recently purchased the open inverter boards for our SDU we're hoping to work with another team to have it controlled by CAN with ability to be shut off / derate with BMS if any issues occur

Could someone tell me how to find the CAN protocol for this?

Thanks in advanced

Re: Dropping max KW from 220 to 80KW

Oh god, what a load of rubbish :)

I'd start by dropping fslipmax to 2 or 1.5 Hz and fslipmin to 1.5 Hz as well. Should already get you the reduction.

Thank you, we will try this first - Is there any info you can link me to which will give me some more information on this or be able to ...

Dropping max KW from 220 to 80KW

Hi, new here so please go easy.

We've just purchased some SDU's and open inverter boards, seems simple enough but we decided to use this in an old T2 so we need to limit the power.

Looking at the parameters, i'm not 100% where to start but asking chat GPT to change parameters it gives me something ...
