Re: Guide to CAN for toddlers (or people with arduino UNO)
If you're using UNO or any other 328p based Arduino then you need to take account of endianness. The arm based ones like the DUE are the same as OI so you don't need to worry about it.

Re: Battery Pack Power Density
High power cells are physically constructed differently. Internally they are constructed as if they were many smaller cells in parallel, by interleaving. Certainly the hobby lipos I fully discharged and opened up were.

Re: Gen 3 inverter converter control software
I'm looking at single phase charging (240V AC rectified is ~340V). My intention was to use the MG inputs then the buck/boost converter to boost up to battery voltage (100S in my case so aroung 415V) but seeing the 300V on the cap in the Yaris inverter has made me think twice.

Re: Gen 3 inverter converter control software
A (potential) warning to anyone who wants to use this a Yaris inverter (as stated in Celeron's GitHub) the dc capacitors are rated at 300v (low) and 650v (high) (as stamped on the capacitor casing - attached). This does also beg the question that if the high side capacitor is 650v then it makes it ...

I fear your avoid_explosions function may get optimised away by the compiler.

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
OK I had a look at this last night. My original code was for ESP so I looked at porting it to the 328p which I have successfully done - however there is an issue which I'll explain. The 328p has 3 timers: Timer 0 is used by arduino for the millis() function which is needed by the original code. Time...

Re: Toyota Auris and Yaris Inverter Logic board
Is the Yaris/Auris inverter/converter the same as the Prius-C inverter (apparently also called the Prius AQUA)? Part numbers of Prius-C inverters include G9200-52010/G9201-52011. Thanks My Yaris inverter has a sticker on it which says G9200-52031 if that helps. Also in case anyone is interested it ...

Picked up the inverter today. It's considerably more compact than my leaf inverter considering everything that's in there.

Re: Gen 3 inverter converter control software
Ah feck... This is going to get confusing ... I was looking at the Yaris V2 diagram on github. Most of us seem to have Yaris inverters but we are talking on a Prius Inverter thread 🤔 OK I see the Auris V2 schematic on github. Also current sensors on those pins - pretty sure that's the right one now...

Re: Gen 3 inverter converter control software
Lucky you doobedoobedo, I saw that one too, Im on the other side of the country so I paid a little extra for mine, but agreed the Yaris inverters are insanely cheap and I would be very surprised if the inverter was not as powerful as a gen2 prius inverter. Based on JB Schematic (Note to JB the resi...

Re: Gen 3 inverter converter control software
No need to send the inverter, in fact I'd rather you kept it. The one I linked is local to me. I can't believe how cheap they are :). I wouldn't say no to a board though, happy to change out the resistors myself. I'm assuming there are current sensors the 328p will have access to, or would it need t...

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
Sorry I've not been particularly active. Glad your tacho works .
I have code for outputing any wave pattern on a pin, so 58 then miss 2 isn't a problem. I'll take a look at combining with the other code.

I've not really been following the Prius/Yaris stuff, so humour me. Re: Leaf powered RX8
Not done an update here for a while. I've decided to mount the motor where the transmission used to be. I have metal for the frame arriving tomorrow. Still trying to trick the PCM into thinking the engine is still there. The crank position sensor is a horrible shape and analog, but I'll get there. O...

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
Ok i got across the hash and i found my Arduino has some faulty solder on it. I solved that and now i have a twitching speedo. Can you clear up something for me please? I cant turn my wheels fast enough with all the vibrations so i will have to assume everything works. I tried with various settings...

Everything goes better on the bench.
You've made me look at my waveform generator again (which I'll realease for esp8266 or esp32 depending on which I decide to use) And I think I messed up, so thanks

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
Is that for your crank position sensor? (the 58/60 hole one) If so for 1000 rpm = 1kHz signal out which could be bit banged on a 16MHz arduino without too much hassle, just turn the pin on or off every 500us, you could even count and miss a couple, If I remember correctly you're passing the signal t...

If it's doing zero crossing detection you could try putting the output from the arduino through a ceramic capacitor which would give +/- 2.5V square wave. Hi Ron i was wondering, would your second sketch work with dual outputs? For example i would input RPM of the driveshaft to D2 input. Then it wo...

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
If you define source pulses 2, target pulses 12 it will output 6 50% duty cycle pulses per revolution starting after the 2nd full revolution with a single input pulse per revolution. It'll adjust the output period after each subsequent pulse. I'd really recommend using the second sketch I linked to.

Re: Weird Speedometer Question
The Arduino sketch below will (should) do what you need. Input pulses go to pin2 output is pin9. It does FP maths but that's OK for the speed it needs to run at. If anyone else wants to use it for a different reason and a different ratio just change SOURCE_PULSES and TARGET_PULSES. You won't get an...

The ghetto Leaf coupler is a Blue Print ADC43101 clutch disc or similar. It fits a bunch of japanese and korean vehicles and is cheap.
