Re: Make Nissan Leaf Gen3 adapter board
Do you have dimensions for connector and mounting placement? Or a Gen3 mainboard for reference. I'd be happy to do the layout for this board as well.

I'd be happy to help out with a PCB design, though I use KiCAD instead of DesignSpark, but a PDF schematic is readable in anything.

Folks could you confirm I'm not having a second brain fart in thinking this is an appropriate alternative to the NCV8402 : https://datasheet.lcsc.com/lcsc/1809111720_ON-Semiconductor-NCV8440ASTT1G_C153750.pdf There's no temperature/current limiting in the 8440 - I haven't looked at the usage enough...

Re: Transient voltage spikes with PWM mosfet
I assume you have a two layer board this is laid out on. If you just have a mosfet and some wires etc or just a couple thin traces on a board, then the inductance in your leads/traces is ringing up with your fast rise/fall times. Especially if you have a very small gate charge and fast switching mos...

Re: Tesla Cobra EV Project Update
Out of curiosity, did you see much or any improvement running submersion or air cooling inside the Model S motor? Obviously at 90C running temps you don't have a huge need, but might those same upgrades work on the model 3 motor?

Re: VW Transporter -85 EV conversion
Can you give more details on your pack if you have them, like model year and trim? I've seen (supposedly) 55kWh packs that use the full length of the battery case, so it'd be good to see if there's a way of knowing if a pack has short or long modules. The short modules would definitely be the ones t...

It is always difficult to know just how one comes across when writing in forums, so I'd just like to clarify here, that I really do appreciate your input. Thanks SRFirefox. That confirms my understanding of the situation. The question remains would it be possible to take Johannes brain board or elements of, to continue speaking Leaf? I will be going ahead with the project, as a basis for a future series. And it will indeed be a lot lighter - I'm aimi...

Re: Power up version for complete Leaf
The stock control board in the inverter will, to the best of my knowledge, never give you more than 80kW of drive. This is because, while the inverter has some nice headroom and the motor can handle it for a certain amount of time, the battery in the leaf cannot supply more power to the reliability ...

Would you be willing to share the schematic of your board, as you've already done all the reverse engineering on the inputs to the controls? Nice work! Very cool on the upgrade to the M3 motor. What power rating do you think you would need for average power to balance performance, weight, and battery life for your sprint races, or is the M3 motor pretty good where it is already?

Re: Nissan Leaf Gen1 Disable Switch with internal Fuse
Found the datasheet for the fuse. Unsurprising that the fuse held at 400A, based on the time-current graph in the datasheet. You should be able to pull 450A for at least 5 seconds before it blows, and it looks like an average of 90 seconds at 400A. Good news is that there's a 300A version if you nee...

Just a question regarding the Prius Gen 3 Dual Motor Controller Kit - Does this allow using the boost converter to provide around 600v for both motors from a Battery pack of around 200v?(basically can I use this for a conversion using both original Prius motors and put a 200v pack in it instead of ...

Re: Toyota Auris and Yaris Inverter Logic board
The easiest way I've found to replace leaded components like the STM32 is to use a razor blade or exacto knife to cut all of the leads next to the body, then use a soldering iron with a generous blob of solder to pick the legs off the board. Use solder wick to remove solder from the pads, and then t...

A thought as I was looking at this, but have you considered using either the buck-boost section or MG1 power stage as the power stage of a PFC controller for phase conversion? If there's no plans to use it as such, I can see exactly where I could inject my own control signals into the V1 board to ge...

This is beautiful and I think a wonderful example of EV hot rodding. The suspension you selected looks like it was made to live there. Do you expect any issues with the upper shock mounts? They look like they're part of your welded cradle, but I can't tell from your photos.
