Re: How to test this giant fuse?
Sounds to me like that fuse is blown.
If the fuse is not blown you should read 12.5V at boths sides of the fuse and the resistance across should be in milliohms.

Re: Volvo C30 with Leaf drivetrain
I realized I don't want a "modern" car with all its bells and whistles. I prefer an older more analog car.
On top of that there is the hassle with the immobilizer, that can be worked around but not in a way I liked.
If you like the car, go ahead. I think it will work well as an EV.

Re: Kia Niro BMS
After Balancing ON cell current coming from cell to BMS (+70mA / 20second / good condition) but after this current coming from BMS to cell (-70mA 20second). These both directions are in the loop. This is normal and expected behavior. The slave chip (MAX17823) can not handle balancing adjecent cells...

Re: Kia Niro BMS
Hi, Is there any way to test the small BMS-slave units with MAX17845 chips from a KIA/Hyundai 64kWh battery to check if they are working? I did have a look at your code "BMS2_7_3_EDITED_3_2.ino" @bexander but it contains a lot of code and functions as I understand. I have a battery with b...

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97
Yes, that is a good option. The downside is that the RX450h inverter is quite bulky and the ones I've found cost a lot more than the Yaris/Prius ones.

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97
Interesting. If I would give this another go I would start with sourcing a Yaris gearbox so I can test the inverter against it's original HW. That way it can only be SW. When I can confirm that's working I could test with MGR. BTW, that is also another issue, the Yaris inverter seem to change mid se...

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97
Honestly, I can't remember if I got speed feedback or not but I "think" I did. It worked fine in one direction but not in the other. If the resolver is connected to MG1 while motor on MG2, would the motor spin at all?

The -5V is needed to run the inverter correctly so the IC14 need be populated.

How do you load it to test set current limit?
It will only limit set current down to 47V and below that the current is only limited by max output power.
With a battery connected this is usually not a problem but if using other loads it can be a severe limitation.

I only go down to 3,5V/cell and at that voltage I get approx 80% or 19,8Ah with summer conditions (~20degC in the battery).

Re: Kia Niro BMS
Serch for "contactor error" in the code and try to figure out why this is triggered. Then work backwards from there.
Using analog read to determine inverter voltage? Are you measuring inverter voltage directly, without any kind of isolation interface?

Mounting Leaf Gen2 motor/gearbox upside down?
For a Leaf EM57 motor/gearbox combo, to get the diff in front of the motor there are a couple of examples fliping the motor 180 degrees sideways and running it in backwards. Is there anyone who have tried fliping it upside down instead, still running it in forward? Maybe not totaly upside down but 1...

Re: Kia Niro BMS
I guess you could put the call to the "storeCellTemperature()" inside the 250ms function in the main loop, i.e after the "measureCellData();" call.
If you only have two thermistors you could use the MIN and MAX arduino functions.

That is correct, it only triggers warnings. Hard cut offs has to be done by the driver.bigmotherwhale wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 10:58 pm It seems that there is no hard high and low cut off in the existing code?

Got it working with my modules (3 at the moment). Not sure that i got all the hard coded bits. The split in cell layout in the original code is hard to code for, so I removed it void storeCellVoltage(uint8_t dataRegister, uint8_t readRegisterData[29]) and void storeCellTemperature(uint8_t readRegis...

Re: Kia Niro BMS
Looking at register 0x12 (MEASUREEN). If you want to set just bit D12, that corresponds to 0x1000 or translated to binary 0b 0001 0000 0000 0000. Every digit in hex coresponds to 4 bits in binary. D0 is the first digit, right most digit. D15 is the left most digit. If you want to set cell 1-8 enable...

Re: Kia Niro BMS
This is a bit strange and I suspect some hardware issue.
Have you checked the cell connections (wiring) for cell no 8 for all modules (max17823)?
Please also verify with a multimeter that the cell voltages are infact close to 3,68V / cell, for those no 8 cells?
