Re: J1772 Charging

You do know that the Prius / Yaris logic boards implement the J1772 comms on board? I did not. Is this part of using MG1 for charging? Is the firmware setup now to run MG1 for charging and MG2 for motor control? Or would the Yaris inverter have to be a dedicated charger? From what I remember the ha...

Re: J1772 Charging

Hmm, I think by the time the exchange rate and overseas shipping is factored in the costs between Tom's and the one I linked is a push.

I do need a BMS and looked a little at SimpBMS, but I'll give it another look. I

J1772 Charging

It would be convenient if I could charge my project EV vehicle up with the same power cable as my Chevy Bolt. So looking at options, is it possible to use this box to handle the J1772 CAN communications, then run the power into a Toyota MG1 (my case, either a Gen2 or Yaris) to charge the batteries? ...

Re: Very basic BMS

Add me to the list of interested... As I'm nearing completion of the mechanical conversion, and feeling good about the upcoming inverter/motor wiring, I've started looking at batteries, chargers and BMS systems. There is a definite "OOF" feel seeing the cost on the BMS, but I don't want to...

Re: Novice 6x6 ATV conversion

I'm getting close to getting back to the electronic part of this conversion. With all the interest in the MGR posted up in the last couple weeks I figure I would let the "dust" settle on the confusion programming the STM and tuning then pick up from there. With the recent video's released ...

Awesome project! I'm doing a learning conversion on an ATV before doing a conversion on my '67 Thunderbird. Looking forward to seeing this come together!

Re: Novice 6x6 ATV conversion

I'm back from vacation now and getting back into making progress on this thing. While I was away I received the resolver exciter board from Arber333 and got most the digikey parts in to assemble it and the components necessary to make the voltage divider(?) for the current sensors. I say most the pa...

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle

I go away on a 3 week vacation and the MGR topics take off! I'm extra excited to get back to my project. Sadly I'm still on the bottom side of the learning curve and not (yet) able to meaningfully contribute. On the coolant pumps. I would not run an off the shelf fuel pump with fluids above around 1...

I think I have large enough metric thread gauges, I'll see if I can get a check on it in a couple hours.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread

I'm prepared to be bored! It's interesting the parallels I see wiring and tuning these with the aftermarket fuel injection world I'm very familiar with. Dumb guy questions on noise. For long power cable runs, does twisting the wires together help or hurt the noise situation? I know it's common for s...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller

I just took your comments and asked if anyone happens to know if the battery input for Gen 2 can handle greater than 233V, 'hopefully' up to 319 volts. The battery (boost converter) input can only handle a peak of 20Kw, so why would you be using it? My understanding is on the Gen3 inverter, using t...

Nope, voltage will not affect them.
That's good to hear.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread

Please, just slow down and actually read the threads, then read them again and make notes if necessary. If something isn't clear, see if the answer is in another thread, don't get fixated on just one. There is a lot of information here, if you actually take it in. Many aren't and the same questions...

Re: Novice 6x6 ATV conversion

Assembled the board tonight! I didn't solder the blue pill to the board, I'm going to pick up a socket for it incase I brick or short the blue pill loading in firmware or in event of mis-wiring (or goofing up the current sensor signal...) I'll be able to quickly swap in another chip. I've got a digi...

Re: Novice 6x6 ATV conversion

While waiting for electrical parts to arrive I've been sorting out the braking and bolting in the MGR. This will let the levers move forward for throttle and rearwards for braking. I only made one rod to test how it'll work. I may need to move the master cylinders further rearwards and would need lo...

Re: 6x6 Max

Thanks for the recommendation, but the transmission in the 6x6 was my main problem, I got the 2-stroke to run alright, so using an electric motor and keeping the belt would not solve my issues with the 6x6 ;) Plus you mentioned it requires fairly high voltage worth of battery to make it run, and I'm...

Re: 6x6 Max

I didn't design that circuit, nor do I often use op amps. But I'd get an LM324 - it's a quad op amp (and you need at least 2 for your sensors). It has good input voltage range so you should be fine. -Isaac Thank you! So with that chip, I would build two sets of circuits, each passing through the si...

Re: 6x6 Max

So after some thought and more reading, I'm still going to try my hand at the blue pill board with the Gen2 prius inverter and toyota MGR. I've made the order to Digikey for the parts, have an STM32 chip and programmer on the way. I got the Wifi chip a while back. Arber333 says he has one more excit...
